Philippines | Aged | 40% ABV
Don Papa Small Batch Rum is produced by the Bleeding Heart Rum Company on the southern island of Negros in the Philippines. The rum is distilled from molasses, then aged for over 7 years in American oak barrels, and lastly charcoal filtered.
The name Don Papa rum was inspired by Papa Isio, a leader of the Philippine revolution against the Spanish who led his island to independence before joining the main revolutionary movement.

Great Rum for any occasion.ideal taste , little hints of vanilla and lots of sweetness. With the Don Papa you can easily convince everyone to drink rum
Köpte dem i Biarritz.
I've looked at Don Papa for a long long time, as I think that the packaging as A+.
Coming on here (after I bought the bottle) I should have been a little more circumspect. Rarely has a rum scored right across the spectrum like this.
The nose - too sweet
The palate - too sweet
Overall - too sweet
However.....while it is far too sweet, and I suspect the addition of sugar and many other things, there is something about it that is the tiniest bit appealing. It is more appealing if you don't treat it as a rum, but more a liqueur, and does have a sophistication about it that many overly sweet rums miss out. It's strange, but while I dislike Pyrat XO, this is OK (just) but really, there isn't too much difference in the approach they take. I wonder whether giving it 4 is being overly generous {EDIT - yes it is. It is a disgusting rum so I have moved down to 1}, but maybe as it is the first rum from the Philippines that I have had, I have given it the benefit of the doubt (and it is beautifully packaged).
Easy enough to drink, but I won't be buying again. I think I might have to pull this out and drink with my Christmas pudding.
EDIT - I have revisited this bottle (I still find it hard to call it a rum) and while I still don't really like it, if you consider it not as a rum, but as a fruit bomb and a whore at that, it has a certain appeal. I think it very much depends on the mood you are in. BUT it is far too expensive.
This is surely not for me - to sweet and artificial.
Rating this a 3/10
2/10: Because my wife will/can finish the bottle - thinks she actually likes it - she prefers it with a bit of sparkling Water and ice.
+1 ekstra for the awesome looking bottle and label
Oui je suis conscient que c'est une nouveauté dans le marché, que les bars et discothèques on fait de ce produit un incontournable. Mais il y a de mieux. Je vous conseille d'aller voir ailleurs.
It is a very bad spiced rum.
No ageing to find in it.
FAR too sweet, but also bad sweets.
It lacks everything.
Please, do not buy, unless you want it as a present for an enemy.
reminds me of legendario black elixir ... but less sweet ... very aromatic

Smells a lot like a vanilla and lemonade ice cream float.
"For all its sweet sugariness, its really very drying and bitter on the palate once it all settles down."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Very different smell and taste against dominican rhums. Too much aromatic on smell and taste too.
