Philippines | Aged | 40% ABV
Don Papa Small Batch Rum is produced by the Bleeding Heart Rum Company on the southern island of Negros in the Philippines. The rum is distilled from molasses, then aged for over 7 years in American oak barrels, and lastly charcoal filtered.
The name Don Papa rum was inspired by Papa Isio, a leader of the Philippine revolution against the Spanish who led his island to independence before joining the main revolutionary movement.

I was recently in the Philippines on a family vacation and heard of a newer rum called Don Papa. No formal aged statement. Nice packaging held in a metal sleeve that allowed me to safely carry a bottle home in check-in luggage to Canada.
I did not taste this before buying and what a mistake.
What is this I thought upon first sip? I have been a rum drinker for many years and can hardly describe this as rum. Syrupy sweet, over the top vanilla, and then more vanilla, oh and did I mention vanilla? Candied fruit straight out of a jar. I am very disappointed and after one glass felt like dumping the whole bottle down the drain. I won't though as I will probably give to someone who likes Fruitopia type drinks but will pass on with expressed warnings.
Tried this one at a friend..
The taste is very artificial and syrup like,
I have to be at least moderate drunk to enjoy this.
I take one bottle every time I go to visit my mom.. He likes sweet rums 🙄
It's too sweet, but fruit/honey flavours make it acceptable and on tasty side of scale.
This is a very smooth rum, with a nice caramell flauvour. Its word a try!
Not realistic that people give it a “1” its a very nice rum.
I feel like this rum gets a bad rep but I quite enjoyed it. I like the tropical flavors. I do not enjoy it straight but with ice it is perfect.
Smakar smörkola o pomerans. Känns starkare. Ganska god.
This was a vastly different rum from most we've had... it had way more developed fruit flavors, like sour cherries and kumquats. It wasn't a bad experience at all, but it wasn't superlative either. In all, a good rum to have as an outlier/weird rum to share with those who love it, but not one we'd keep around to sip often.

Smells a lot like a vanilla and lemonade ice cream float.
"For all its sweet sugariness, its really very drying and bitter on the palate once it all settles down."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Let’s make rum that will reach wide population. Sweet, well designed bottle, quite good aroma and average price. First time I tried this one, it was something different. Not good, not bad, different. Now I have 3rd bottle and it’s catching dust. It became boring. For guests it’s excellent, for rum fans... eh
