Great flavors including nice vanilla notes. Very smooth. Great sipping rum.
enjoyed this a lot. A little sweet but very enjoyable.
Very smooth rum; on the nose I am overpowered by cocoa.
the taste is the same with some vanilla mixed in there as well.
I could drink this everyday but at the same time I could not drink more then one or two at a time; very rich.
One of my favorite rums so far. a Vanilla bomb and a great sipper.
(Update January 3, 2020: So... after reading through the hydrometer tests, I unfortunately discovered that Zaya is a company that absolutely loads their "premium rums" with additives like sugars and coloring such. This is something that disappointments me greatly. As noted on my recent review of Zacapa's Edicion Negra, "premium" rums with additives that aren't labeled mean an automatic three points off. That means the highest I can give this now is a 7. It won't go lower because this review is still otherwise true... I do love this rum regardless. Sadly, it's a flavored rum, not a pure rum. Hence the drop in rating.)
After trying Ron Zacapa, I've been dying to dig further into the world of rum. This was my next step and... wow.
I tasted everything. I agree that the vanilla was the most obvious part of it. But that's fine with me because I love vanilla. It was sweet which, again, as I said for Ron Zacapa, is perfect for me. Caramel was evident, as was a hint of nuttiness. I even detected cocoa on the tongue. And the nose was just as wonderful.
Highly recommended. I loved it.
If this is the best that your store has, you'll be ok buying this, but there are many much better rums out there. Too much burn and oakiness to realize any other flavors.
I wish we could give 1/2 points, this would be 7 1/2. Maybe next time I have some I can upgrade to 8, but not today. It is very good and I would never refuse a drink if offered to me. The problem comes when I try to justify filling my bar space with so many good rums. If I need the space, I will just save it for 8s, 9s and 10s. Know what I mean? Very much recommended though.

This is not a bad rum. It has a bit too much vanilla and a bit too sweet as well. That said, I think it would be great with a desert. The price is too high, I would choose Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva over Zaya anytime.
Will not buy it.
