Trinidad and Tobago | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (5+)
Zaya Gran Reserva Rum is a blend of molasses-based rums distilled in a five-column still and aged in white oak barrels for up to 12 years.
Zaya rum was initially distilled by Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala in Guatemala. The brand was acquired in 2008 by Infinium Spirits and is now produced in Trinidad and distilled by Angostura.

This review is for the newer blend of 12 aged rums. The rum is rather smooth for straight shooting but does have some roughness that is detectable under all the sugaring.
Excellent sur glace, il est liquoreux, belle couleur, bon goΓ»t. Pour le prix c'est le meilleur que j'ai goΓ»tΓ©. 30$ US
This is my favorite rum to drink neat. Not overly sweet.
This review might not be current because the bottle of Zaya Gran Reserva I tried was an old one found on the shelf of a local liquor store. It was distilled in Guatamala, not Trinidad, and had the 2007 San Francisco Gold Medal tag on it so I imagine it had been on the shelf for about 8 years.
The rum was very dark in color. Slightly darker than a Trinidad version I saw at another liquor store. The aroma is strong with the dominate smell for me of coffee and licorice with vanilla accent. It is very smooth with very little alcohol burn. I drink it as a sipper with just one ice cube in the glass.
Very good rum for someone who likes flavor and aroma...
As a sipping rum this is fantastic. So rich and full of flavor. One of my favorites to sip on. Not too strong of a bite and a good, smooth finish. Worth the cost and won't disappoint!
Really a smooth tasting well rounded rum. Not as complex as some more expensive rums, but my go-to rum for drinking straight on an every day sort of tip. So good for in the low $20 range.
if i drink a sweetend rum, and thats very seldom, than i prefer this one. the zaya 12 ist a good sipper with tons of vanilla and caramell. a big dessert rum. it has a real sweet aroma, but in the mouth it is less sweet than you thought. brilliant for a sweet one.
in the past the old zaya was made by "the Zacapa guys". Now it is made, i think, by angostura. in the past the zaya tasted much more sweet. there was a bigger amount of sugar in it. many people like the old one more. i think the new zaya is better, because i taste more than sugar.
love to mix with some coke a must have in any bar/collection yes buy it already.
One of the best sipping rums. You can feel the age. Not agressive, but rich taste.
