Any fans of Ron del Barrilito? It's Puerto Rican rum and the three-star version is not too hard to find.

A couple years back I got in line to purchase a 4 star version called Hacienda; now it is only available on site. The 5 star was also available but I couldn't go $750, so I settled for the 4 star at $350.

I'd consider selling this if anyone is interested.

I picked up and 3 and 4 stars when I was in PR years ago - to be honest, I can't remember if I was a fan or not. Can't believe the 5-star is so expensive!!!

I enjoy the Santa Ana as a mixer. Ron Del Barrilito Santa AnaLast summer NH Wine and Spirits had this on clearance for $22US per 750ml and I picked one up since I'm a big fan of overproofs. At $22 it was a smoking value IMO, and I went back to buy another bottle. Now I'm wishing I'd bought a case or so since my state wants $39US for the same bottle and it's no longer available in NH. It's on sale this month for $37 so I MIGHT pick up another bottle to refresh my memory, but that's still a little high IMO, so maybe not.I covet a taste of the 5-star but it's not available in my area and I doubt I could afford it if it was. The 3-star is $72 here.

I recently picked one of these up for $34.00 (3-star) at my local TWM. I haven't rated it yet here, but I do I like it. Not mind-blowing, but prety good, worth the money I think.

Is it considered a spiced rum? I've started seeing it in my local area but have read conflicting info on whether it's spiced.

It may depend, at least in part, on one's perspective. I don't think of it as a spiced rum like those rums that literally say "Spiced" on the labels. That said, they do use a proprietary blend of fruits, spices, and (maybe) nuts as part of the process when creating the rum, so it could be a spiced rum I suppose. I'm sure technical definitions could be applied to better inform, but I'll let somebody else with more knowledge here tackle that. I'm definitely no spiced rum expert!
