if you re asking for well aged rum (sipper) i know no one unsweetened, brugal 1888 have just few grams but for me too much, also matusalem 15 not too much (both over 5 grams per liter), but i never found an aged Dominican without sugar...

Jimmy: Good observation and you are not imagining these things. The worst offender is Dictador 20. This one had been rated near my all time favorites. Then they changed the formula.  In a side by side test, I could not tell it apart from the newer version of Dictador 12. My heart sank with this finding. I now only buy Dictador 12 or any of the old bottles still found. I have two of the last bottl...

Recently there have been quite many added rum, some new bottlings and some odd ones without added pictures that's impossible for me to find pictures of. For example: Two new Holmes Cay that pictures probably will show up upon in due time. Other examples is a rum from Lost Spirits and one Ron Boliviar. Those two will probably be impossible for me to fix without pictures from the reviewer.     ...

Does anyone have any knowledge of Dictador rums, visited the distillery or have first hand knowledge? I've tried several found them tasting artificial and sugared imho. I've seen some very high ratings, some Extreem aging statements 30-40 years, even 40 years and burried at bottom ocean at 30 meters off France for another 8 months. I agree with rumrun11. Every once in a while, especially after a meal, I like a more sweeter rum. Takes the place of a desert quite pleasantly! But one is enough. If I get in the drinking mood I prefer the true unadulterated rums....

All that matters to me is my very own complex spreadsheet that tells me what are the good and excellent buys.  As of this day, those amount to 172 rums out of 449 reviewed on this site, and new arrivals keep coming. I always keep 12 to 14 bottles open at any given time. My main rum shelf is a wooden cabinet that I built in the early seventies to hold vinyl record albums. It can hold more than 14 ...

It may depend, at least in part, on one's perspective. I don't think of it as a spiced rum like those rums that literally say "Spiced" on the labels. That said, they do use a proprietary blend of fruits, spices, and (maybe) nuts as part of the process when creating the rum, so it could be a spiced rum I suppose. Kevin: Nothing worse than spending too much on a rum only to be disappointed. All of these reviews can minimize one's risk when spending a lot for a rum. For me, it took years to perfect my formula to separate good buys from bad ones. Plain and simple, taste counts twice as much as price for me. Does anyone know anything about the Pirates Legend rums? I purchased the Black Bart bottle at auction stating Cuba as the origin. The box calls it Pirates Collection exclusive European distributor F & G from Italy 45 proof but nothing else. F & G website has no reference of the brand, and my bottle was pretty old.
