Another great find at Doc Fords. Tried on a rec from the bartender. Smooth and warm going down with a good nose. Will definitely put it on my go-to list.
Nose: Dried fruit and fruit candy.
Pallet: Butterscotch, caramel, vanilla in droves.
Finish: More salted caramel and a touch of heat.
Worth sipping neat, or for its price, really any purpose. Fantastic.
Harsh nose, vegetal esters, fruity follow up but more perfumey ester
Empty bottle again. It is not overtly sweet at first, but once you have a second or third glass, you will find that it is actually delicate.
just alcohol, almost no flavors, really not great neat, use it as mixer ...
Very spirity taste at first but with nice funkiness coming right after. I have only tried it straight so it kicks like a mule but i bet with a bit of dilution it is an amazing sip and even better in a daiquiri.
Revisit: 8->9 I love this rum, it takes some getting used to but now I'm hooked. Use a splash in any rum mix to kick up that rum funk flavour instantly. Works well in milk clarification cocktails too. I tried it in Wray & Ting, but I wouldn't say I liked the matching of flavours as I felt the funk somehow got lost. I love it in my new favourite mai tai recipe: 1 oz Plantation Original Dark, 0.5 oz Wray & nephews, 0.5 oz El Dorado 8 years, 0.5 oz Pierre Ferrand Orange curacao, 1 oz orgeat, 1oz lime juice
waiting for the steak and enjoying FDC with truffle popcorn. great nose right out of the gate....smelling vanilla and toffee. taste was equally as pleasant now introducing some spice and a bit of alcohol. finish was a pleasant warmth that lingered. that coke never got close to the glass. this is a great sipper and a good example of what I enjoy drinking and continue to look for. Recommend! cheers
Spicy aroma, spice up front on the flavour with a smooth alcohol burn, fading into a big vinuous warmth
Nice mix of flavours and spices, very deep dark colouring, great with ginger ale and comes in a stunning bottle showing a map of the Black Country and Birmingham canals. Alone it can smell and taste very strongly of alcohol, but get an extra point for being from my ends.
A nice rum, nothing spectacular, not sure what the smooth taste that the ‘volcanic aging’ claims to add. But there are far better FdC rums. Not much info about in this, no age details either and only seems to be sold in airports
Its a bit 'hit you up front with alcohol' but after that it almost mellows with honey and finishes with wood and leather. Glad I tried it but the the Caribu Solera I drank the night before was obviously a touch better, yet more expensive. Good if money tight.
I have tried this rum in a few drinks, neat, rocks, and even as a float for a mai tai…
It does not have the fun Jamaican funk and the taste is off putting. Wouldn’t recommend and the bottle I have should last a looooooongggg time…

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Lots of cinnamon here, bordering on a cinnamon whiskey vibe... Perhaps it's flavored? Much better straight than mixed, but dries up very quickly. While the palette lasts it is sweet and buttery. Not great, still good.
