Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Aromas of green apple, clove, and spicy bitterness. The palate offers caramel start, clove, and cognac barrel complexity. A rich, barrel-aged delight.
First thing, I have to point out, is uncanny resemblance with more popular El Dorado 12.
Sweet sugarcane/sherry aroma accompanied with sharp alcohol scent. Rich and elegant.
BTW, rum and cherry cask is good combination. Anytime!
Taste is in contrast. Little bit behind the scent. Low sweetness, sugarcane of course, oak barrel, with dry wooden end. Literally oak wood taste.
Presentation is nice, classic cardboard box with lot of trophies on the back and standard Doorly's bottle which I consider attractive and suitable for rum. ABV 43% is big plus.
One thing, which spoils overall good impression, is the stopper. It is made from some kind of rubbery plastic with wooden cap. I do not want any plastic sh*t to touch my food or drink.
Why they do not use the cork for god sakes? Natural material!
Anyway, I decided to give 8 despite the stopper, 7.5 would be my rating. Overall 7.1 is well earned.
I like sweet rums, this is not exactly my "cup of coffee", but I understand there are plenty aficionados, who like less sweetness in rum and I just can recommend this tasty piece.
+ complex
+ mouthfeel
- too sweet for me
I like the oily mouthfeel, the complex flavours, especially after adding some drops of water and giving it time in the glass. However, it stays too sweet for me.
Hint: Adding even just some drops of another rum (in m case CDI 9 yo Ten Cane) brought it to another level and tamed the sweetness. Might be worth a try for others, too, with one of their favorite rums.
Aroma is light, taste is mild and sweet. Quite good drink for such a low price.
My very first bottle, for sipping neat there are plenty of other choices.
It's quite dry. Ethanol is noticeable. Somewhat anarchic.
But in "Ti punch" (with sugar and lime), it takes his full dimension.
Sorry folks, this "rum" is not for me. It has a pungent, almost acrid smell and aftertaste. Probably not to be taken neat, maybe better with coke - I haven't tried, as I like my rums neat or with a little ice. I'll save this one for a guest who might like it.
8,5:The nose entices you with notes of wood, clove, allspice, and honeyed dried fruit like prunes, baked honey with apple and pears, brown sugar, licorice, vanilla, prunes and raspberries.
8,5:On the palate it is buttery, fruity with tropical fruits and spicy-pepper, with toasted wood, vanilla, tobacco, molasses, later going towards red fruits such as cherry, blackcurrant and sweet chilli, coming a bit dry.Irish whisky finish is felt nicely, has some medicinal notes and is well balanced and very complex.
8,3:Asian spices and other warm spices are present with a hint of oak, saltiness and smokiness at the finish.
Another great find at Doc Fords. Tried on a rec from the bartender. Smooth and warm going down with a good nose. Will definitely put it on my go-to list.
Nose: Dried fruit and fruit candy.
Pallet: Butterscotch, caramel, vanilla in droves.
Finish: More salted caramel and a touch of heat.
Worth sipping neat, or for its price, really any purpose. Fantastic.
Harsh nose, vegetal esters, fruity follow up but more perfumey ester
Empty bottle again. It is not overtly sweet at first, but once you have a second or third glass, you will find that it is actually delicate.
just alcohol, almost no flavors, really not great neat, use it as mixer ...
Earthy barrel, cinnamon, and salted caramel in aroma. Quick sweet vanilla and caramel start, spicy body with raisins. Numbing heat with caramel and barrel in the tail.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
