Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
A nice rich colour with a caramel and oaky aroma raises the expectations, but the flavour is sharp and harsh on the first sip. Over ice it does eventually die down to a dry, woody, bitter taste with a slightly sweet hint. Would probably appeal to whisky drinkers best.
This was a surprise for me. It smells kind of harsh, but wasn't bad. Mixes well with Coke Zero.
I know it’s not really meant for sipping, even though apparently Jamaicans do, but I had to try.
Too powerful for me. Tasty enough, fruity, grassy and fresh.
Added to coke or most mixers I still find it overwhelming.
Anyhow, I had to try it, and having done so, “still not convinced “, but won’t be rushing to get another bottle any time soon.
God til en aften i godt selskab, mild og rund, skal have lidt mere dybde for at komme højere op, men absolut et godt glas
I was really let down by this rum because I was expecting it to be very good, but it just tasted like any other rum. Nothing special at all about it.
Maple syrup strong on the nose. No hint of added sugar.
It is very much what you would expect from a medium-aged Spanish-style rum. Very lightly dosed, not in the "compensation" way some brands do it. On the nose there's a real note of gasoline, but no off-flavors on the pallet, just lots of oak, vanilla, and a little spice. Smooth. Very persistent butter/cream note during the finish.
As a sipper it would receive a 6/10 but since it makes my favorite rum old fashioned I'll allow it a 7.
Really got into drinking Captain in the late 90's. Was my drink of choice in my 30's and 40's. Still in my stable and drink it often with Coke.
I was drinking Captain a bunch during covid. Decided to try Kraken and it was a very nice change. After a few months it hit me like a tone of bricks one day of how sweet it is. Havent had it much since. Could be good in frozen drinks.
Down the middle nose you’d expect from a chairmans rum but with less spice or st. Lucianess. Taste has 2 deviations from my beloved st. Lucia rums (note i love st lucia rum). The taste is weaker than most same origin rums but then the finish has more burn not sure how it tastes watered down but burns more but at 46% its an enigma. Stick with cheaper forgotten cask or finest instead, tastes better costs less.
Heavy dark roast coffee on the nose slight musk and hint of alcohol burn, on the taste molasses rum that gets interrupted on the finish with an immediate bouquet explosion of coffee grinds. This is a unique expression in that all coffee “rums/liqueurs” that i’ve tasted (maggies farm, carta vieja geisha, lyon’s) have a sweetness to them that this does not. Its like taking coffee, grinding it in the rum then taking a sip vs some type of thoughtful blending.
What a fun rum flavor! The chocolate orange is subtle but still present and unexpected. Super tasty, but not sure how I would use it in a drink. Might be nice just over ice with an orange peel and a dusting of cocoa powder.
Not much going on, clean sugar flavor. Would pair well with stronger flavors
A lovely rum. Smooth on the whole. A little harshness but still good value.
Very smooth and sweet. Lots of nutmeg flavour. Very easy to drink. Best neat at room temperature.
High proof without being jet fuel. Subtle floral flavors coming from the Cognac barrels. Mild vanilla
An alluring golden colour and very little aroma leads to a smooth, dry okay opening taste with slight tingle on the side of the tongue. Sweet fruit (banana) flavour at the peak with a pleasant aftertaste. Not bad at all!
Nice amber colour, rich caramel aroma, smooth as butter, dry oak and nutmeg dominated flavour. Easy to sip over a bit of ice. Another? Oh, go on then.
8,5:On the nose, the first impression is rich and powerful, a bit perfumed with notes of toffee, nougat, vanilla, chocolate, coconut, dates, tobacco, fudge and macadamia nuts, minimally caramelized with strong molasses. There are some roasted nuts, soy sauce, leather medicinal notes and a resin.
When aeration, it becomes a bit smoky and is vegetal with camp fire, heather, really Islay whisky like.
8,5:On the palate, the first attack a salty taste (salted butter caramel), very agricole like, then grilled meat and dark chocolate, we could say umami, is round, balanced. It becomes spicy, vegetal, with a camphor. We find our strong liquorice candied, molasses mixed with soy sauce. Later we get some tonka beans and cinnamon.
8,2:The finish is bittersweet, woody, spicy with licorice, perhaps some resin, even juniper notes and a hint of caramel.
8,3:On the nose, this rum is woody, round and roasted. We find coffee, brown sugar, that turns to caramelized and some orange peel. It is also fresh, with chlorophyll. From the roasted side, we have burnt sugar, it is slightly medicinal, there is some vanilla, chocolate and licorice, tannins, complex. The wood is toasted with coconut.
Aeration gets the molasses and caramelized wood even more more toasted, becomes spicy, there are nuts, vanilla, caramel. It is fresh and juicy, perfumed, after a while dried fruits join in.
8,2:On the palate, the attack is soft, thick, gourmand and quite sweet with woody character, vanilla, caramel, nuts and a bit spicy with sweet spices, some orange peel, coffee, coconut note and a slight hint of dried fruits. Here is also a bit perfumed, round and balanced.
8:The finish is sweet, with caramelized nuts, toasted coconut, woody and some tannins.
23/8-24
Duft: god sødme melasse, let Brandt, fad/træ, god balance.
Smag: honning, let røg/bål (men helt klart på den gode måde), varme krydderier ingen kanel men ellers fyld skrald.
En rom med god balancer, interesant for smagsløgene.
Duft af karamel, røde bær, krydderi (kanel?), syltetøj. Duft rigtig godt.
Smag: karamel, honninghjerte, mild med krydret, en smule bål, røde bær

Bought this rum on a trip to Andorra and could not wait to try. Well worth the wait. Very smooth and plenty of flavours. More time to truly appreciate the taste. The price was reasonable
Een mooie mahoniehouten kleur. De smaak van de eiken vaten is duidelijk. Een rijke maar toch vrij zoete smaak met een lange kruidige afdronk.
Bottling kind of weird but the rum inside is better. For me it is already a bit too sweet, but for my wife ideal. I prefer more bitter and dry types. Has very pleasant and smooth taste. Burned sugar on the nose, brown sugar and floral notes on the palate with a distant smoky finish with long duration. Good for beginners, great for ladies.
