Mr. Elliot, Black Tot 50 th anniversary Rum is available in North America, Try Bitters and Bottles. Actually I think they have 3 different Black Tot rums available.. They are in California but I’m not sure on their shipping policy. I’ve seen it on the East Coast as well, can’t remember exactly which store, try wine searchers.... sometimes they’ll help you find those hidden gems. Best of luck! AJ...

Greetings, pal! Welcome and enjoy your stay. Hmmm, if you like "sweet and not heavy" rums, then you might have a taste for "sugarbombs", that is. Or maybe the tricky spiced "subgenre". It's all about personal taste and apetite development, really. I don't like sugarbombs myself, but if that is your thing, then by all means, go for it! In this category, i liked El Dorado 15, Plantation 20 XO, Plant...

I fully understand that you only listed molasses based rums, but I still want to say that molasses based white rum is completely inferior to white Agricole rum in general. The only ones that can compete are those that have been aged for some years and then been filtered to become white again....

I was hesitant to start this discussion, but why not? Once a rum making process is carved in stone, no one dares to stray off the path. Well, until you encounter craft rum producers in the USA. Examples are Lyon from Maryland and Wildcat Brothers and Roulaison from Louisiana. They stray from the path and use other hardwood staves and seasonings besides the standard oak barrel aging. As with any...

Paul, I’ve been patiently waiting for a chance to comment kind of like the outside partner in a Big Time Wrestling Tag Team match... my hand just got tagged and I’m jumping in the ring! You actually poo-pooed some reviews you felt should be in a separate category because they were either hard for you to find or too expensive for you to buy. Then you gave a half hearted insult to those who ...

Thank you! This settles it, then! I will pushback Flor de Cana 25 to the very end of my near-future wishlist! Although the 2 remaining contenders evoke a tough dilemma (liked other products under the same brands a great deal), i will give priority to Doorly's. Besides, judging by my taste and former acquaintance with no81-2012 (my most treasured ace ever, highly unlikely to change), i am pretty su...

After eating the New Year’s Eve dinner and while waiting for New Year's supper with lobster and that it will be 24 o'clock I opened a Trois Rivieres Bois D’Inde. It’s a great Agricole that I will review in near future. What did you, or shall you open? Happy New Year to all of you ! Finally I hope that you who have expressed a little harsh words about each other on the site can now dig...

Oh, there's some good whisk(e)y out there, no doubt! While I favor rum, I'll always have a number of whisk(e)ys on hand. I don't collect other spirits, save a few for cocktail mixing, but there are some great ones out there worthy of consideration as sippers. Wish I had more room!...

Regarding the glasses, I collect glasses with a logo on cause it’s nice to have them in my rum bar. The tumbler glasses on the left (Damoiseau et al Agricole brands) are very nice, but they also work great to drink rum from. The glasses in the middle (Appleton & El Dorado) aren’t that good in my opinion. To the right is a Zacapa glass, a Glencairn glass and a glass from 1423's Advent calen...

What Paul said, especially with Don Pancho rums...which makes sense since he was the Master Blender for Havana Club and the Cuban ministry of liquors prior to leaving Cuba in the early 1990s. I take the excellent quality of the most Oliver y Oliver products as a gift to mankind. Of course i have purchased few bottles of the old Esclavo XO Cask :). You will never see me complain about premium prices for rum here or elsewhere. In my opinion most premium rums are still way to cheap (e.g 40€ for Millonario 15Y!!?). In Peru the people call it "rum for the millionaires". Im far away from bee...

It depends on what province you are located in. The LCBO in Ontario has the widest range of rums....when they are in stock. Alberta and B.C. also have some good stores with great rums. If you are in Ontario and knowing that bars have a hefty markup I would suggest the Autentico Nativo 15. A great Panama rum at $75 which won't scare off a bar from trying it out. There is also the Centenario ...

My favorite book is ”Rum - discover the golden drops”. The original was written in Danish and then also published in Swedish, but I don’t know if it’s published in English yet or if it ever gonna be. If not, it doesn’t give much for you who don’t understand Danish, Swedish or Norwegian. One of the authors, Mads Heitman, who is behind the Nordic region's largest rum site, “Romhatten”, has now writt...
