Exactly, this site is just awesome! I learned a lot about rums and enjoyed so many discussions and reviews. Those helped me to find rums I like the most! I also love the idea of tasting club. Thank you everyone for detailed reviews, participating in discussions and creating this place!...

I found a new app called "rum journey". It allows to book tours at nine Puerto Rican distilleries. The app is not a UX design masterpiece but seems useful if you plan to visit Puerto Rico.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fortnessintelligence.rumjourney...

Paul: I tried investing on crypto market but despite doing some research and learning, I apparently suck and lost some 40%. I didn't give up but I don't feel ready to invest more at the moment. Simultaneously I bought several bottles of rum half year ago and they are worth twice as much now. The thing is that I have knowledge and passion in rum, I read news and blogs and I talk to you guys, he...

I was right about lifting the bans too soon in the Netherlands as the R number went through the roof (3.0 early in July). Now some measures have been taken again and the R number is back to 0.8 but that is what you get when a government is deciding on political grounds instead of on scientific grounds (as far as Covid-19 goes we have about the most stupid government in Europe I am afraid) so I hop...

Some were sold at spiritacademy and there was a draw at whisky.fr. Some bottles will still be sold but we will probably not see them below 1k.There are only 766 bottles each? This explains the current prices....

A fresh distillery from Grenada present their first product. We know good products from Grenada like River Antoine already.Renegade leverages also some employees from other distilleries: Grenada Distillers Ltd., Westerhall, and River Antoine.I think we'll hear a little more from them in the future. But Haiti is currently gaining ground.https://cocktailwonk.com/2020/05/renegade-rum-ascends.htmlhttp...

Yes, but Detente was 51% and 10y old, it lacks a bit of complexity. Shibbo is 16y old, the oldest Foursquare release. Many are looking for the Criterion, as well as for Destino. Yes, the rare bottlings doubled the price. Criterion was releases with 2.000 bottles. I don't care about Criterion, it's only 10 years old. But Destino is 14y and aged 12y in Madeira casks. I would buy a Destino instead...

I think they are for the American market. That's why they are so expensive in EU. We can buy high proof ElDs for that price. We have the 2010 bottlings with higher abv here....

Thanks for the input, all. I have gone through a bottle of Doorly's 12 Year and it was very good, if not as flavourful as the above. I have also had Plantation's Isle of Fiji, which was very interesting and pretty good. I notice similarities between it and the Xaymaca, which I attribute to the cognac barrel aging. However, it doesn't have the sour, earthy, dry fruitiness that the Xaymaca doe...

rumtrinker: Be careful with bourbons and whiskey, since they are made from grain, which is full of gluten. My health problems began about 10 years ago in my bourbon phase. Since switching to gluten free rum, my health has improved tremendously. I am not allergic to gluten, but something needs to be said for gluten free products like rum and tequila....

Hi all Rum Lovers! Just post this as a reminder. When you add a rum rather new or rare, please add a good photo of the whole bottle from straight forward. As for example all the Chairman's Master Selections and Single Casks just released for one shop or bar. Quite many of those are impossible to find images of at the web....

There are many different options, I would prefert tropical aging at high abv to develop heavy and intensive flavours. My favorite finish would be a cognack casks finish. Here is some more information about aging:http://www.ministryofrum.com/article_age_matters.phpLong fermentation, pot still distillation and tropical aging >9 years has the best effect on rum in my opinion....

They've got a slick marketing team, no need for details like which distillery... If you are going to take an aged cask, dilute it, sweeten it (guessing!), and cut it with YOUNGER rum to "improve" it, the distillery might not want to be associated with this, lol....

rumtrinker: Consider yourself one of the lucky ones. It has been extremely rare for me that a rum improves in flavor as it slowly empties from the bottle. Since I buy mostly dry rums, most will stay the same by the time that they reach the bottom of the bottle. Most of the sugar bombs only got worse for me by the time a half bottle was left, so I no longer buy most of them. Dos Maderas 5+5 was my...

Harrie, that’s a good idea. I’ll add that to my ratings from now on. Captain Lee, I laugh at some of those guys descriptions even though I know they are far more advanced than I am. @Wolfe Tone Moral is very depending on the persons personal view and wont be discussed by me. Because it is pointless. I do not see how morals will ever change basic human settings. I do not put my personal moral view in the discussion and do not value yours. I also do not want to be valued by your morals within a discussion. And as i stated above i also dont see any useful/positive outcome when ...

There is a HK based shop distilia.com/. It is actually a Polish shop but their headquarters are in HK, I think due to lower taxes or something. You could say their prices are inflated but they sell very rare rums, the prices of which grow fast. They offered Skeldon 1973 for some 12k EUR 3 months ago, it was sold for around 25k EUR on rumauctioneer this month....
