I think it’s ok. It’s a database to share your impressions and experience of a certain rum. Or like kudzey said as a warning. If there are some ingrediencies from the sugar production its ok. I already added rum made from beet-molasses or with parts of rice....

So we had some fun and poked around thrift and antique stores yesterday in search of our new favorite glass! lol We found a bunch that we loved and we tried the tulip style and the sniffer style.. The last one took driving to Houston 300+ miles to one store only to find out it was only in stock at a store 30 miles away in driving rain and heavy traffic. Some friends and I did some further research and found that, from the label, the bottle had to have been manufactured between 1953 and 1967. I tried to figure out when the actual bottle was made but the closest I could get was after 1930....

I found the “bullets” on Amazon. They came in a pack of three; oak, cherry wood, and maple. They are just carved into the shape of a bullet, making it easy to drop into a bottle with a bit of fishing line for retrieval. I didn’t char the wood, although I think the oak is slightly charred. ...

Paul, if your Fly Test method gets popular, the rum producers will have to state on the label "product tested on animals"....

They’re all excellent. If you want to avoid less complex, more oaky expressions, look for those with different finishes such as Detente and Empery. There are many others but those two are my favorites....

I bid 26 on a bottle  I thought it was a good deal but when I got shipping cost it was a other 20 odd on top so I ended up paying few more pounds than it cost in the shops it's only worth it on bottles that are hard to get or u really want it's not cheap even for people in uk...

Cool, I agree that people should be allowed to rate but if there is no text, their rating should not be displayed. For me the textless ratings could still count to the average scoring. I'm not sure about length weighting, too easy to manipulate. Weighting by likes could be more meaningful, but I think it's redundant anyway....

Paul, I'm not sure what exactly your question was but the ECS might be rated high because people like these rums. This could also explain why some are willing to pay much to get some bottles. It's not a matter of statistics but preferences of the market ...

Jimmy: Since you liked JM Rhum XO, I can wholeheartedly recommend JM Rhum 10 Year from 2008. I just bought my fourth bottle yesterday for $110 from Total Wine. It is worth about twice the price of their excellent XO. As for Clement, their Homere is a very unique and super smooth agricole at about $93 US. I have several of those bottles stashed away.. It is also one of the few rums whereby the ru...

Maybe they "improved" it for the mass market with sugar, to make it milder. Could be the right decision to increase the sells. Of course not the right decision for pure rum drinkers, but it was always a rum for the mass market.It's from a multicolum distillation, far from great but also not bad. Havana Club has so few flavors that a special barrel probably won't play a major role. It's more label marketing. Many collaborations also have no relation to rum. Havana Club is distilled in copper column stills. So there are no strong aromas left and after 7 years there is not much wood influence. My go to has always been Pusser’s and I love this rum with a few back up bottles for special occasions. I have only been able to find the entry level Black Tot black label that was horrid here in the US, the others seem to be very expensive if you can even find them. I wonder if it would be better just to purchase a full flagon at auction? Anyway I celebrate with you....

By the time the worst part of Category 4 Hurricane Ida came closest to where I live (65 miles on the strong side), I was sound asleep from the rums I mentioned in my previous post. Then came the hell the next day with all of the tree branches down and a lot to slowly pick up. My home had a minor amount of damage and no flooding. We did not get power back on...
