I've got a Total Wine very near to me, and they have a decent enough rum aisle, not quite as big as the Tequila (which is sizeable) so no signs of it shrinking yet at least! But they can't carry everything! Definitely check out all of the mom & pop shops in your area. I've had a few more than surprise me with selections not available at TWM, and some selections actually cheaper than TWM. Now...

Well, I'm half bottle through and finding it more and more interesting with every sip. I understand it's not the best dark rum in the world, but I quite like it. So I am looking for the best dark rums with rich Demerara taste. Can anybody point me in the right direction? ...

I did already catch the Plantation Original Dark (17,89 € / 1 litre in Germany) with my eye, so I think that'll be my choice for now. The Myers (16,89 € / 1 litre) might also be an option. It's like the Rolling Stones sing: You can't always get what you want....

for me i don t look at same country pairing, i look more sweet rum with sweet cigar or sweet and not sweet contrast, when i started this thread few days ago i was trying an oliva robusto serie g (not so sweet cigar like cubans are naturally sweet, it s a nicaraguan, medium strength but good and affordable as a daily smoke) paired with a brugal 1888, it was a nice contrast ......

here a mount gay 1703 master select cost around 180$ and the XO triple cask around 55$, a yamazaki 12 around 330$, a remy martin XO around 160$, but ok a francois voyer XO around 80$ so i m thinking that distance is a key factor about the price, what comes from another continent is more expensive ... another factor: how much a nation imports also is important, cheaper spirits in europe you can...

Well Matey, After long and arduous journey I still like some sweetened rums but very few. The absolute truth is in the rums that don't need to add anything. It's become a pleasure to consume the real deal. Although there are some under the $50 limit they just can not stand up to the quality we all demand. The problem is that the base price is above the $50 mark so I tread lightly and hopefully fo...

JarkkoKoo:: The key to finding good rums on this site that fit your tastes is to finally identify those reviewers with similar tastes. I have seen a few that take pride in their craft cocktail creations and are eager to tell us all about it. Yes, they are like finding a needle in a haystack, but worth the effort in finding them. Then there are the sugar police who want absolutely zero added sugar...

More than a month ago, I developed a lump under my right ear after sampling several different rhum agricoles neat on my back yard swing. These rhums inspired me to finally remove that nasty wire mesh fence from the lake after 20 years. The lump developed suddenly that night. At first, cancer was mentioned as a possibility. Eventually, it was found to be just an infection that flared up suddenly. ...

I totally agree to keep your mixology skills up to snuff. Drinking neat is nice but sometimes (like in the battle of Alberta) one needs to drink more volume. I recently came up with this concoction: 1oz Blue chair coconut rum 1oz Baren Samedi spiced rum 2 oz coconut water 1/2 lime juice The weights are up to you of course. I free pour but you can find your own ratios. It's a bit random due ...

My Total Wine has this for $19 with a 3.1/5 star user rating. Plantation Dark is $20 (and 1L is $3 more). Is Hog Bay THAT good or was it better when it was cheaper? Edit: May 13, 2024 and while the online pickup price is still $19, bought it at the store today for $13.50. Was going to get a bottle of Whaler's Dark this month for my Hawaiian Mai Tais, but if the reviews here are true, then this...

Ekan0098: Blame that Big Mac for the change in taste for your rums. No rums go with a Big Mac! I have stated many times before on this forum that what one has had to eat before hand can affect how a rum appeals to them afterwards. Mood also comes into play. So give those rums a rest and try again after not eating anything. This is the joy (and let down) of rums. The taste can change from day to ...

I personally use Myer's Dark rum for most of my mixed drinks, I think it tastes great in a rum and coke and anything else i've ever used it for and is not too expensive. Captain Morgan really wasn't intended for stand alone drinking, I wouldn't recommend it. I don't use high quality aged rums for mixing, there would be no point in paying 3x or more what a bottle of Captain Morgan costs or any othe...
