Ron Barcelo Imperial
Eye
Density, dark, copper, mellow mahogany.
Nose
Initially you can feel high alcohol in your nose, as soon as your open it with a bit of water, aromas such as honey, vanilla, chocolate, molasses start coming to you.
Taste
The palate is creamy, but not burning in the mouth just a little bit in the throat, sweet, chocolate, sugar cane, nuts, a reminder of oak definitely a little dry finish.
Makes a good rum and coke. Good rum taste with a good amount of after-burn. Sipped alone, it is better than many of its brethren in the same price range. Mixed with cola, it is better than Bacardi Gold and at a good price point. Not quite as good as Bacardi 8 as a sipper. Not nearly as good as Pyrat or some of the less expensive offerings (5 year, 8 year) from El Dorado, to provide other comparisons.
This is actually the best Barcelo can do. Best neat or on rocks.
A gouter pour changer de voie dans le rhum. Plus sec que les classiques DDD ( don papa, diplomatico, dix neuf dix neuf ) il manque de charme et de parfum.
Prix mini donc foncez
A good entry in Dominican style rums. Sweet, smooth, light and for the price of 20€ you please your purse aswell. Good one!
I don't consider the Imperial a sipping rum, but it is my top choice to impress good friends on a good mojito or even better a dark and stormy.
Léger. A l'attaque un peu terreux et épicé, puis caramel et vanille.
Belle longueur.
Sérieux malgré son petit prix; il nous fait entrer de plain pied dans le monde des rhums.
This is a classic Dominican/Cuban style Rum. In Germany not much more expensive than the Barcelo Gran Anejo. It should be between 20-25 €. I have to add, this Rums really benefits if it is drunked with a cigar. This really can't be said about most rums in this price segment. I I add one point.
Un peu brut de décoffrage, un final intéressant, même si cela reste un rhum linéaire. Super rapport qualité prix. Je suis fan.

The nose is light and gentle.
"It’s quite nicely balanced but just a little bit too nice."

Fully flavoured rich rum. Incredeble nice price for such rum. Comes with complexity by adding small drip of water.
