One cannot use the name cachaca except in Brazil, where it is their national drink. So this Louisiana rum denotes "Brazilian Style" and even sourced their yeast from Brazil. Did they ever hit this one right!!! Of all the cachacas that I have rated, only Avua Amburana ranks above this one. This is saying a lot. I actually prefer this one to the Rhum Agricole made by the same company.
For those who did not grow up in Brazil with cachaca, I can tell you that it is an acquired taste. I first tried it about 12 years ago and absolutely hated it because I happened to choose a cheap industrial cachaca. This one can be considered to be an artisan cachaca. What makes an artisan cachaca is distilling the fresh cane juice as soon as possible. Industrial cachacas are the ones whereby the cane juice is allowed to "ripen" in the hot tropical sun. If you don't like this one, then I advise you to stay away from all cachacas.
Hard to take down the single I had... was trying to give it away. Not good.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I’ve only had two other Brazilian style rums and they are all unmistakable. Very potent and very distinct flavor. That flavor is cane juice. Overall this rum is good, but that’s coming from limited experience with caçacha, so take my remarks with a grain of salt.
