This rum is quite good. High quality-to-price ratio for $50. Fans of Foursquare will certainly enjoy this and it is a terrific gateway into rum for whiskey drinkers. Only downside is that it is only sold at Total Wines.
Highly recommend. I've enjoyed both the 12 yr and 14 yr Doorly's. Both are delicious Foursquare products than deliver exceptional depth of flavor at great prices. I always keep a bottle of this (or the 12 yr) stocked.
Nose is wood to me. Not sweet. Has a spicy finish with a bit of burn.
The nose exhibits classic Foursquare characteristics with prominent notes of caramel and molasses. There is a slight hint of alcohol, but overall, it is quite enjoyable. The taste follows suit, featuring molasses, woody undertones, and a rich dark chocolate flavor. Adding a few drops of water introduces a subtle nutmeg element to the mix.
Rich amber color and nice fragrances. Needs ice to tame it but very drinkable. A definite step up from the XO which was my first Doorlyβs.
I can appreciate this Four Square rum. For the price point $52 at Total Wine it has a nice nose, color, mouthfeel and aftertaste. Dry, spicy and woodsy but hints of floral and fruit. Not for those who like sweeter style rums. Having rated many ESC Forecasks it gets an 8. If I had not a 9. It is a bourbon cask rum. With a Madeira finish.
This bottle can match up to the FS ECS release for a more afordable price.
Just an amazing rum
I like it in a rom and Coke. One of my go to for that drink
This is how I imagine how good rum should smell and taste - Punch cake. If you would like start exploring Foursquare ECS releases, but dont know if its worth the money, try this first. It reflects very well what Richard Seale is doing there for more then a half of the cost. A must have for dry rum lovers. It beats more expensive rums.
Nose - mulled wine with spice, dark chocolate, honey and raisins.
Taste - dry as all Foursquare products but you can still experience sweet notes. Dried fruits, red wine, honey, dark chocolate and spice. Warms very well. Good fruity finish.
In my opinion there could be more prominent smoke / oak notes. That would be a taste perfection.
Woody oak notes dominate initially giving to some fruit.
"Lots of ginger and spicy oak on the initial entry. There is a slightly bDoorly's Fine Old Barbados Rum Aged 14 Years rum review by the fat rum pirateitter note in the oak notes. A slight astringency. Finish wise we are left with a spicy and slightly heated end to the rum."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
