Alkohol: 52 %
The El Pasador de Oro is a blend from Gutamela. The rum is matured in bourbon barrels in Guatemala and then receives its final finish in ex-cognac barrels in Charente, in France.
Fortunately, it was bottled in 52%.
Smell: Smells like multi-column distillation. The smell is not complex or intense, almost reminiscent of Panama rum. It seems to have been a very clean distillation that didn't leave a lot of flavors.
At first I smell Bourbon influence, the young wood and vanilla set the direction.
Light sweetness with some dried fruits and a light aroma of melon lie above it.
The rum isn't bad except for the fact that it holds back too much.
Taste: The rum starts with a light honey sweetness, melon and the light wood. It becomes a little sharper in the mouth. I now notice more wood and dried fruits.
The finish is slightly spicy and medium-long, with wood, a slight sweetness and some light fruits.
I can still see some tannins that are slightly bitter in the background.
It remains a bit sharp in the mouth for some time when most of the aromas have already evaporated
The aftertaste: some tannins, wood and some honey sweetness
The rum holds back a lot. I couldn't perceive any distillery character. It's nice that it was bottled at 52%, but it didn't make it richer. I could enjoy this rum, even if it wasn't a highlight for me.

El Pasodor del Oro 52 is a rum from Guatemala. It was imported by the bottler Les Bienheureux and stored in cognac barrels. It was stored for 6-15 years. It is said that barrels have been selected, which have a high quality and a low alcohol content so that it can be bottled in barrel strength. Therefore the 52. The rum should be without dyes. He might be a little sweetened. I couldn't find any information about it. At 52%, it is bottled in the typical bottle of this brand. The shape and the wooden cork look high quality. The label is nice, but says nothing about the rum. There is also no information on the box. This is really bad and lowers the score. Doesn't make the rum particularly trustworthy.
In the nose the rum is quite strong but it needs some time to shake off the sharpness. Then a fruity sweet aroma develops with tobacco and some wood influence. Over time, it also becomes spicy without being difficult. On the palate, the sharpness is quite perceptible. The rum is spicy sweet. Caramel and raisins. But also orange and chocolate. It gets sweeter on the tongue and shows quite a certain complexity. The finish begins with chocolate and is captured by notes of wood and oak. At the end a sweet oaky taste remains.
The 52 is very tasty and i like it more than the XO, as I prefer strong rums. That is why I am very satisfied. But the price is also well above the XO at 65 euros. You pay for the stronger aromas. And the 52 loses some of the lightness and gentleness that make the El Pasodor del Oro XO special. That is why I would rate both of them in the same way. Both are good solid delicious rums. Due to the price, however, the XO is more suitable if it should be a blind purchase.
A blend of Guatemalan rums aged 6-15 years in cognac barrels in France.
Bottle: Beautiful, rounded with a thick bottom.
Colour: Gold (Oro).
Aroma: Very pleasant. No alcohol strength at all. I smelt vanilla, grilled bananas, raisins, cherries, cocoa, cloves and oak.
Taste: Here the higher strength is already noticeable. It warms up on the palate and in the throat, but I have to say it's quite pleasant. There is already more oaky wood and the sweetness is lower compared to the XO version. In the taste you can detect vanilla, honey, nuts, cocoa, fruit (cherries, apricots) and oak.
Aftertaste: Long.
Finish: I find that the greater cask strength obscures the rum flavour a little. Personally, I prefer the XO version, which I found to be smoother, but this rum is also excellent.
Overall rating: 8.5/10
vzorek z rumového kalendáře, příjemná chuť i vůně s celou škálu tónů - vanilka, skořice, čokoláda a snad i trocha pepře
alkohol je znát, ale nevadí
strong, but absolutely delicious and soft top taste
This rum surprised. As 52% strong it's really smooth. Smells realy nice.

Aroma is warm and fruity. Taste is sweet and smooth with peach mango and other fruit tones. 52% is helping to highlight the character. Aftertaste is longer and pleasant.
