Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Nice rum. The flavor is deep and balanced. But possibly, not so bright.

Not your typical Molasses based rum this one. Its made from the first press of the sugar cane only resulting in a much smoother end product. Citrus, spice and cocoa are prominent in this one and a small piece of a nice dark chocolate on the side whilst sipping out really accentuates them flavours. Really long smooth finish, i could drink this all night straight up quite happily!!

I can't give this a 5 because it says 'easily consumable in a bind', and quite simply, I'd rather not.
Its flavour just feels SO swamped in sugar, it's barely detectable until the finish, where I finally get watered down caramel and wood.
Before that, the predominant 'flavour' I get is water-i- ness and a bland sub par demerara vibe.
Hey, it goes down like pop, and I have barely even noticed, and hey if that's your thing, cool. But for me, if I'm going to drop £50+ on a bottle of rum El Dorado 15 has WAY more flavour, complexity and interest.

First impressions, I'm enjoying it. Unlike how sweet it is. Will update at end of the bottle.

This rum ia an A rating and the best: easy to find almost anywhere. Got to try solera system, smooth and not so sweet taste.

My “go to” when out and looking for drinkable neat rum. Definitely sweet but not as if sugars were added. Minimal complexity in flavor profile

Better than your average rum, but doesn't get into the upper tier of good to great runs in my opinion. I expected a smoother finish from a 23, a bit too alcohol forward for me. Think the 23 is a marketing gimic, bc this is a blend of multiple vintages, not 100% 23. I'd prefer this over Bacardi, but there's better rums in the same price range.

It's ok, but I'm not overly impressed. I heard so much about this rum, and thought it would be better.

I liked this rum, and thought it was smooth-drinking. I’m not much for “descriptions”, but I know what I think tastes good. Good price point and very enjoyable
