Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Not bad over ice or in a cocktail variety. Definitely sweet and syrupy. A step up from what you drank in college but losses steam as a rum favorite when you broaden you rum experiences.
Sempre un classico merita averlo sempre a disposizione , moltop piacevole da gustare ovviamente liscio
I prefere the XO but this is a ver nice rum for sipping on casual occasions. Thursday Night Football. Yes. Sunday afternoon bbq. Yes. But for holidays I am leaning towards the XO.
It tastes unbearably forgettable and artificially sweet. I don’t even remember the tasting notes. This is one of my first sipping rum, I remember when I first opened the bottle as a newbie I enjoyed rums like this and bumbu. I forgot about it and started trying out new rums, and when I sampled this again a month later, I poured it out.
Sweet taste of caramel, cocoa, vanilla, and on the background maybe even coffee. Very smooth taste all the way round without nothing punching out. A sweet sipper for those, who like it.
Magnifico. Este ron no falla ni aunque te equivques !
Balance, long taate. Smooth. A very, very good rum. Nevertheless, not quite unforgettable. Hence a lower score.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.
