Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Ótimo aroma e sabor, deixa um retrogosto bem presente
This is my favorite rum for mixing with a sweet drink. Not the best in terms of drinking on ice
Honestly, probably not the most welcome opinion from some in the rum world, but I loved every drop of this! A much more affordable version of the XO, I could have consumed it by the pint.
Caramel-ly, thick, raisin flavours. Yes its dosed to high heaven, and the age statement raises an eyebrow, but for a simple drinking rum, I can't fault it.
Really enjoyed the rum, added to my collection. Top shelf
It is an easy rum to sip on, the rum itself is smooth and the flavors are a little more on the subtle side. This rum is a bit more on the sweeter side of the spectrum, but by no means does it come close to diplomatico sweet. Like the 6/10 caption says: Tasty, but not quite great.
In my view still a decent rum.
The one that started it all for me.
Lovely rum, good steady taste. Love this one with a tiny splash of mixer. A bit rough neat. Always keep this in the rum cupboard
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

A smooth and sweetly flavoured rum. yes it is sweetened with additives no that isn't a entirely bad thing although the packaging could be a bit more upfront about it. this is what I use to introduce people who've never had anything but rum cocktails to neat rum
