Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Wonderful brown color and an incredible warm and sweet taste.
Smells of vanilla, coffe and caramel. Rich and elegant long taste. A little expensive?
This Zacapa is one of the most known from the Zacapa Family. Nose: It has Sweet aromas with a bit of chocolate smell and fruit aromas at the end. Just add 2-3 cubes of ice and let it feel some air for about 15 minutes and as soon as you have the first zip there is a very nice oak feel to your Palate. You can feel Its Brown Sugar Molasses presence as well. I’m a bit curios as to why it’s called Zacapa 23 when its average age does not seem to be 23 years. Being a nice rum it surely does not compare with the other reserve lines within the Zacapa Family and lacks of the body of other finer rums. In general this is a Good Rum to share with your casual friends, however I would look for other options when it comes to share it your intercircle closer ones.
I guess the added some extra sugar. Really I dont get the "hype" surrounding this rum.
This was my introduction to Rum. Still one of my favorites. Looking forward to the XO
Don't ask me why. It's the smoothness, the richness which just makes it one of my favourites.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Greta smooth taste, tried with lemonade and it's refreshing whilst not too sweet - despite other ratings
