Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Ein wahnsinnig überbewerteter Rum, der mit seinem zugesetzten Zucker, seiner Färbung und der missverständlichen Altersangabe ein falsches Spiel mit dem Kunden spielt.

An insanely overrated rum that plays a false game with the customer with its added sugar, coloring and misleading age statement.

I read all of the reveiws below and people trashing this. As a beer connoisseur with beers exceeding 1500/bottle, I think we have to acknowlege that not every bottle of every liquor is going to be the Shangri-La of that liquor. However, as a person that was looking for a nice sipping beverage to keep me out of my beer, I found this to be exceptional. It is super-smooth, little-to-no heat, and does have the sweetness that a bunch are griping about. We drank it side-by-side with an Appleton Estate 21 year, and the Appleton tasted like garbage. If that is what rum is supposed to be, I will stick with the Zacapa. I know I sure as hell will not drop another 100+ on a bottle I have not tried after that train wreck. .

Dette er en ok rom, som kan drikkes af de fleste. Denne rom er virkelig blevet sat i fokus alle steder, og hvis man ser på smagen af rom til en 300-400 kr. er den også en af de bedste.

I actually remember where I was when I first had this: Punta Mita, Mexico. I was taken. Couldn't wait to get a bottle. And as I was transitioning from cachaças to rum, this was a winner, even a champion.

As I expanded my rum collection, the true champions rose, and this one fell.

Nose - Brown Sugar, Caramel, Vanilla
Palate - Toasted Coconut, Cooked Fruit, Brown Sugar

And the reason for the fall: the aftertaste. Muddled flavors that are just sweet and almost artificial.

It helped me get into rums, but this journeyman has been retired. But hey, it did serve me well in Nayarit.

Absolutely delicious entry into sipping rums, doesnt come anywhere close to zacapa XO but at less than half the price very good.

A robust flavour that is best served with ice and a squeeze of fresh lime.
