Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

So smooth. A classic choice when stuck with a new decision
Not bad. Slightly pricy for this rum in my area but I would buy it again if better rums not available at that time.
One of the first “aged” rums i tried. If you call a blend aged. Agree with others it is a good siping rum but i would also not feel bat putting it in a mojito or shots.
I’ve always loved captain but just started getting into the sipping rums and so far I love this one
Great for sipping on the rocks. Definitely worth the buy.
Might not be the best neat but not every rum has to be. Put this with some ginger beer and it's as good as it's ever gonna get.
Beautiful color, gentle aroma, full body and persistent softness. Feeling really old.
Excelent best rum, very well balanced, smooth, long after taste, complex,
Nice rum can drink straight or mixer but it's a solera so how much of it is a 23 and how much us younger? Plus 6 years of the age are sitting in bottle rather than aging. So the price is a bit off putting and seems more of a novelty.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

This rum is always solid. It's not my top favorite, but you can never go wrong with this one. I'm not a fan of rum that are heavy on the molasses flavors, but this one leans toward that flavor without it being overbearing and dominating. It's subtle and allows the smoothness and slight spice to seep through. I prefer this straight up on the rocks and think it's too good to use as a mixer. I'm always happy when I go to a party and see this as an option. Great rum for all occasions.
