Tonight's Rum: Ron Viejo De Caldas, imported from Columbia, literally. My daughter Kimberly brought it back from Columbia for my Birthday. This Rum starts off with a great banana bouquet, peppered with a bit of citrus, I’m thinking orange. You’ll also find some vanilla in there, delicate. In the mouth it’s definitely a mild Rum, you can barely even tell it’s there. The light color is perhaps has something to do with that. In the throat the flavor it has a bit of heat and is laced with vanilla and banana. Still mild, the heat is nice. The finish is a bit strange. While the flavors come through, there is bit of tartness. Raisin appears along with the vanilla, the banana first noticed at the start is almost gone. I like this Rum and will be sad when it’s gone… Unless I go to Columbia someday. 8 out of 10.
Floral, tropical fruit and oak are what you will encounter in this light amber colored rum from a Columbia. Aged in oak barrels for 8 years, this rum has the needed time to draw the nice flavors out of the oak barrels.
It isn't too dry or too sweet, but offers rum drinkers a yoeman rum from Columbia.
Can be enjoyed straight or mixed...

Bought this bottle of 15 year, Gran Reserva in Cali , Colombia for Christmas. Have been enjoying its rich taste and how smooth it goes down.
