This has less wood influence than Doorly's, which makes it a bit less interesting to me, but overall a good, dry rum. I think its similar in flavor profile to the Doorly's XO 6yr, but a slightly better version of it. It was only $25, so an excellent value, but didn't thrill me enough to go out and buy it again.
I've been exploring rums for awhile now and learned I'm just not up to the extreme hojo of offerings like Wray & Nephew or Smith & Cross...I wanted something flavorful and I've found various other Foursquare products among my favorites...My normal go-to's are Doorly's 5-yr, 8-yr and XO. The R.L. Seale hits the Goldilocks zone for me--it's just right. I much know I'm drinking rum, the taste is great and it doesn't break the bank...I'm giving this a 9 rating because the 10's exceed my bank account. Maybe some day. Recommended.
Nose of coffee, chocolate, light vanilla and citrus fruits. Well balanced, not overly complex and lovely nose. Taste -on first taste the rum is quite dry and full of spices. Followed by banana, dark chocolate, ginger and stone fruits. The rum is very sippable. The finish is medium with notes of oak, nuts and smokiness behind. Highly recommended rum for anyone who wants to go on the path of unadulterated and pure rums.
I've had better tasting rums and more expensive rums, but this is probably the best "bang for your buck" (speaking of rums now) that you will find on all readily accessible rums. I find this to be slightly smoother and more overall pleasing than Doorly's 12yr. otherwise that would be the best value. Smooth mouth feel with enjoyable lasting warmth in the throat. Butter, marshmallows, dark fruit, and slight carmel flavors. Perfect sweetness throughout. Has a permanent place in my cabinet.
I had high expectations coming into this rum. I’m a huge fan of Doorly’s 12, and think Foursquare can make great rum. It’s unmistakably Bajan rum, but not as good as Doorly’s 12. Great bottle, but I personally prefer other Bajan rums in the same price range. Although at the price this goes for, it’s certainly still worth a try.
I don't know why people like this rum. I thought it was harsh with a bite both straight or with Pepsi.
In the aroma sweet,in the taste at the beginning Intense, sweet, woody and in the aftertaste it remains intensely spicy and peppery,I expect more complex and clean taste.
"Buttery, nuttiness hits me and washes over my tongue in waves. It’s magical stuff..."

The nose is classically Bajan.
"It leaves notes of oak, nuts and smokiness behind in the finish which is long and pleasant. ."

This rum is going to stand out anywhere because of the shape of it's bottle. In the glass the color is amber caramel. The rum itself is good. It is a bit dry with no hint of sweetness. Tasting notes of wood, dry corriander, peppercorns and paprika. There is a little burn at first but it coats the pallet well. I love the slightly higher 43 ABV. It is not thin. No sugars. No additives. Aged 10 years and you really taste the maturity. Barbados rum from Four Square. Best of all is the purchase price for $27. I have it at 7.5.
