Vanilla and caramel notes with a smooth sweet taste. Overall better than I expected. It was a nice sip.

Lite spritig smak först men får den vila lite så är den söt och len i smaken. Mycket god.

To me, this rum tastes like cough medicine but with a delightful pine-sol after taste.
I believe that it was once a much better tasting rum.

Très bon rhum.
Arome de vanille et de caramel.
Léger pas trop puissant Petites notes sucrées. Finale Pas très longue en bouche

I'm fairly new to the game, but I have tasted a few rums prior to trying this, and although it was "satisfying" to drink, with its caramel-toffee flavor and its sweetness, it did not hit the mark for what I have come to appreciate as aged rum. However, I do see why some people swear by it. Keep in mind this is the "new" version of Zaya, unfortunately I was never able to try the original.

I tried this 16 year Zaya side by side with the 12 year old, and I found them to be quite similar. In fact, I really struggled to pick a winner.

Like the 12 year, this is fairly sweet with a good amount of vanilla and some butterscotch, which I actually find quite good. But those are the dominant flavors, and it's difficult to taste the underlying rum.

A very good smooth sweet taste. Not bad at all, but not worth seeking out if you can more easily find the 12 year.

Very nice nose with a good body. Close to being a sipper but shines as a mixer with the right level of sweetness. This is not a rum that is sweet with that heavy aftertaste, it adds to the drink and I look forward to trying it in the blender. This is not for you if all you want is a dry sipper more like a whiskey, this is for the occasional sweet tooth

The older version (Zaya 12) was a sugar bomb too, but this one is even sweeter. Like liquid candy.
I jumped on it because of a significant price reduction... now I know why.

I had this bottle before reading all of these comments and i almost panicked after discovering some of them. So i felt the need to open it and to check it out by myself. At the nose, this blend rum is very perfumed, but this very vanilla flavour takes the lead over the rest. Reminds me some of this already flavoured rum that we can find with La Mauny or Rivière du Mat. We can feel the same on the palate. The wooden stuff is a bit shy. Overall it is not disgusting, but it doesn't kick some ass for an aged rum, especially for a so called 16 years blend. But if you want to have some decent rum in your collection not necessarily for sipping, but for nice cocktails elaboration, it would perfectly match. The tasty vanilla, would improve your mango, strawberry daiquiri or Ti'punch (Ti'vieux). Your guests will enjoy the pregame.

The packaging looks nice. At least they finally removed the false age statement. If you like making rum & coke, that’s the only way you consume rum, and you want a nicer looking(and costing) bottle than say, Captain, or Kraken, then this is the bottle for you. I wish it was good enough to sip so I could feel like I got my money’s worth, but you live and you learn
