Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

first had it on a cruise when i didn't want to pay for zacapa. each time you try it, it gets smoother. but the first few times it my feel a bit harsh. many swear by this rum.
Certainly not a typical rum from my point of view. Not sure what makes it so different and if it is all natural but I like the taste (orange aroma) straight or on the rocks.
Actually I think I just insulted brush cleaner, at least it has a purpose in life and lives up to its claim. And bc doesn't smell too bad either, but to be honest I don't know how bc tastes. Unfortunately, in the case of this so called rum the taste is unforgettable.
This is the rum for the ones who are not rum fans. It tastes almost are if it's flavored rum. When I want to taste something different, I go for that one. Only thing I would suggest is to let it breathe... I don't know what causes this, but if you just drink it the 1st time you open it, the smell is not pleasant at all.
I've bought a couple of those and know by now that it's best to let it sit, opened for around 30 minutes to an hour... let it breath in the bottle and you'll be able to enjoy it's peculiar flavour.
Grabbed a bottle on the way to Fiji hoping for a new rum experience but was not as good as I hoped but still not as bad as Bundaberg rum
Great Rum from Anguilla
Great color, very nice rum!
I get pyrat for $22 a bottle. 1 thing I will note is that over time the flavor of this rum has changed for the worse. I remember when this rum was a lot drier and less sweet and then for the price it was a 10. I still use this as my primary bar rum but I will agree that the orange has definitely started to overpower the rum as a whole and has created a bias for my guest who then go out and try other rums.
Nose:citrus,honey,sweetness,canned fruits
Body: vanilla,orange,sugar
Tail:long lasting,strong,alcohol taste
Bottle:remarkable piece of glass, very nice and interesting one with Hoti medallion
Great piece into the ba, its content is more for beginners,or anyone enjoying really sweet/orange taste rum.
This rum needs to breathe after pouring into a glass...after some while the body and tail are more acceptable.
Drinkable, but not my favorite choice for a flavorful rum. I ended up drinking the rest of it with my coke.
"Had wine not been the drink of choice 2,000 or so years ago, Jesus would have probably turned every drop of water on earth into Pyrat Rum XO Reserve"

"it’s like an orange Chuck Norris came through the joint, belted out a roundhouse kick to the face..."
"Pyrat XO rum review by Lance from RumConnection"
A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Not that smoother as I expected for a 15 years old rum, but interesting citric nose. I can smell tangerine and honey, a bit wood but also alcohol.
Long finish with cacao and vanilla, this is the best part of the experience.
