Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

While this isn't the best rum I've ever had, it is good enough to drink straight up. So much of this is personal opinion that it's hard to truly rate something that everyone will agree on.
I read another review where the writer commented that it just needed some breathing time and then it was very good. That may be the case, what I’ve always had has been very consistent. Not “great or exceptional” but definitely above average.
Strong orange scent, mediocre orange taste and sweetness accompanied by hint of spiciness.
Definitely a really good rum, for my personal taste the orange note is just too strong. But if you like fruity rums you'll love this one.
I don't know about this one, it's good but it has a strange taste to me.. I see this in the bars and it's top shelf but it really isn't worth it.. If you get it as a gift cool but don't go out of your way to buy this one
Many small bars and restaurants carry this and I will drink it on occasion when there is no other choice. It's ok, but I certainly wouldn't buy it for home. Might be good for mixing, but not the greatest by itself.
Somehow..when in the past with the hand blown bottle it was a much better rum. So, if you find a bottle with a stem at the bottom...and b hubble s in the glass....it is worth every sip.
This was my first rum. As I remember, it was really different, then other rums I tasted later. I dont know, if I enjoyed it, or not. Pyrat was first, so I will give him one more point, then I should give him now. There was maybe too much of orange taste.

I was really wanting to like this rum but I cant recommend it as a sipper , its too sharp and has a real alcohol bite to it. On a positive note , I dont find the " hand cleaner " smell or the " overpowering smell of oranges " that people keep on about . Has a real short finish and only as a mixer for me , probably wont buy again.
"Had wine not been the drink of choice 2,000 or so years ago, Jesus would have probably turned every drop of water on earth into Pyrat Rum XO Reserve"

"it’s like an orange Chuck Norris came through the joint, belted out a roundhouse kick to the face..."

A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
