Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

I tried this having read that it provided a nice alternate to Zacapa and Zaya.
As a sipping rum it didn’t hit the heights for me but in cocktails it scored high marks.
First time I tried it was about 15 years ago for $10 a bottle. I thought it was great. But I have learned a lot since then. It has some strong taste I just can’t figure it out. Maybe a sour orange peel or something. I really don’t drink this stuff anymore as there are better aged rums out there. It has a strong taste if you drink without a mixer. I don’t suggest it. Keep looking that will suit your needs.
throw a lime and ice, and it's a decent sipper, at the price, i recommend to anyone interested
Sometimes you need a drink that has the taste of orange and for that moments I cannot imagine a better drink but not all moments are the same...
The first sip makes you wonder whether you are drinking rum or orange liqueur. If you like the latter then this is the ideal rum for you. It has a nice thickness, it is semi sweet and quite enjoyable.
Pyrat XO is somewhat of a problem child.. It's a reasonably good rhum for sipping, however not at first. If you open the bottle, you'll immediately regret having bought this rhum. Though if you let it sit in your glass for a while, it actually gets better. It has a very chemical taste to it and that's probably because it's a blended, flavoured rhum. There's a great deal of orange flavour in it, which is not likely to be appreciated by many. Value for money is ok, quality is what you can expect.
Read all to good and bad reviews
on this needed to see for myself
didn’t care for it straight but did open
with a little ice really get the orange
in this one but more of a fake orange
still not bad not worth 30 dollars
Excellent to drink over ice. Pleasant yet flavourful, easy to enjoy over dinner.
"Had wine not been the drink of choice 2,000 or so years ago, Jesus would have probably turned every drop of water on earth into Pyrat Rum XO Reserve"

"it’s like an orange Chuck Norris came through the joint, belted out a roundhouse kick to the face..."

A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Dieser Rum hat einen klaren Bezug zur Orange und nur zur Orange!!!
