Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

I've been using this for shots and really like the orange aftertaste. I haven't mixed it with anything but i like it so far
I bought this rum on a recommendations from some friends on FB. With all the talk of smoothness from the manufacturer I was ready for a treat. Well it's pretty harsh. Aroma reminded me of some of the smells you encounter refinishing furniture and staining wood. I'm new to rums so perhaps this is lost on me but the vanilla and orange are lost to this paint thinner aroma. One reviewer suggested letting it sit for 2 hours. Well when I come home from work I don't want to wait 2 hours to enjoy a drink. Maybe I'll try letting the entire bottle "breath" for a few hours. It's back to the captain if this is what a pricier rum gets ya. The box and bottle are pretty cool. Points there. I tried neat, over ice, and then mixed with Diet Coke. Best was the mix.
Silné citrusové aroma, alkoholová dochuť bez výrazného těla. Celkově průměr, avšak citrus není můj šálek kávy, a proto dávám pouze 4.
Vůně ovocná, krásná, první doušek exotický od A do Z, ale bohužel vše mizí do krátkého závěru až do ztracena, který tento rum sráží.
Nice aroma and even nicer finish. Orange plays in your mouth like it is Christmas. It goes very nicely with dark chocolate!
If you would like to enter in the world of rum, this is the starting bottle :)
This drink is disgusting. I wouldn’t even call it a rum. It has so much “orange flavoring” thst it is almost undrinkable. I don’t know what they were thinking. They should have to label as orange flavored rum.
Really about all you can say about this. Not great, not terrible. Bottle adds variety to your collection. Flavor is a little different than other mixers.
I used to hate Pyrat. The flavor confused me and it seemed inconsistent with rums that I liked on the whole.
Like one of the comments below, I left a bottle open to breathe. It really does open up to a more complex orange and vanilla flavor than originally lets on.
At first I thought the flavors seemed forced and overdone - almost like it was too ‘in your face’ with it. Now though, I find it enjoyable to sip once it breathes.
tento rum ocenia najmä milovníci pomarančovej chute. podla mňa hodne umelý

A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I'm really disappointed, maybe even pissed, because the actual rum behind the wall of added flavour must be great. Too bad someone dropped a whole bag of vanilla and orange peel in the batch. Even after a while in the snifter is the predominant scent and taste. Even in another glass it won't go away. If you really like those two just go for it. I'll wait to hear that they changed their mind and maybe discovered that they have a pretty good rum that doesn't need any additional flavours.
