Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

I can totally understand the plenty of bad reviews and at the same time understand the good reviews. Strong orange cream aroma which carried over into the taste with moderate alcohol burn and some vanilla. It is sweet for sure. For me it is more of a liquor than a rum. Probably great to sip on around the holidays with desert. As a normal everyday rum I think I would get sick of it pretty quickly but once in a long while, yeah for sure.
I certify this review is my own opinion and that I do not have a professional affiliation with Diplomatico.
Nice mid priced rum. A bit of burn but sweet as well.
Need to tray again for proper review, but probably won't due to low score. Moved from Distiller tasting 2/2017.

The first rum I tasted at the Laka Lono Rum Club when I joined. Certainly not a #1 rum by any other measurement. This has a super sweetness, but is truly an artificial product. I'd call it the Souther Comfort of rums. Regardless, this is a guilty pleasure, not unlike Kool-Aid. No one wants to admit drinking this, but we all have a bottle in our tiki bars.
Took note of another review and poured a sample and let it set out for a little while but may need to set it out longer.
One the nose, I find it very acetone heavy with a hint of orange and vanilla. Tasting several times, I still get the alcohol burn up front before the spice notes come through followed by the orange and vanilla.
Has some hibt of orange. Interesting, but not my first choice
"Had wine not been the drink of choice 2,000 or so years ago, Jesus would have probably turned every drop of water on earth into Pyrat Rum XO Reserve"

"it’s like an orange Chuck Norris came through the joint, belted out a roundhouse kick to the face..."
"Pyrat XO rum review by Lance from RumConnection"
A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Orange taste is nothing for me. Got strong burn. Averrage.
