Virgin Islands, British | Aged | 40% ABV
The Great British Admiralty first served rum daily to its Royal Navy sailors over 300 years ago until the ration was abolished in 1970. In 1979 Charles Tobias bought the recipe rights, formed Pusser’s Ltd. in the British Virgin Islands, and for the first time made the rum it available for public consumption.
Pusser’s British Navy rum today is the same blend of five West Indian rums as the British Admiralty issued to sailors.
Known as the “single malt of rum” Pusser’s British Navy rum is pot stilled using a similar method as that for single malt scotches, and with no artificial flavors is 100% natural.

Its too dark, too strong for me. Much better than most other navy rums (except Woods) but not my thing. I’ve spoken to many friends who were in the navy though and without exception they love this rum.
I might have a soft spot for my first 'good' rum - but I do think it deserves a place on most people's shelf. You can see from the range of scores and reviews that it splits opinion, but I think that is due to some people being stuck on specific styles and flavours. Pussers is not a sweet rum, and the extra strength does mean its a little stronger on the throat. Once past that, the aromas are complex and spices linger, making for a pleasant evening of sipping enjoyment. You can get there quicker if the bottle/glass has been breathing for a little while, but it's definitely a more difficult rum for some drinkers to enjoy.
For it's strength it doesn't burn as much as you might expect but it will never be considered smooth. Not for me and I don't so the need for a drink of this strength.
Unfortunately not much else than burn. Even aftertaste is pretty boring.
I like the color, aroma, and taste of this rum. I use it to make Painkiller (a fantastic drink).
A real good navy rum. If it's the real replica of British Navy old rum ration, sailors were the luckiest ones around the globe. Perfect taste balance between molasses and spices.
Bon rhum à découvrir, le gout est tres bon malgré son manque de finesse
Original tot served to sailors

It has just the right balance of sweet.
"The rum is rich, warming, sweet, slightly oaked with hints of black pepper and allspice."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I enjoyed this as part of painkiller at the Smugglers Cove in SFO. A very enjoyable drink.
