Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum

Plantation XO 20th Anniversary

Multiple | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.

The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

Rum Plantation 20th Anniversary Extra Old is my favorite

Stumbled upon this one by accident. Very easy sipping rum. It’s a little sweeter than most.
The label might lead you to think it’s a 20 yr old rum, but that’s not the case.

I let it air and then got hit with ethanol on the nose. There is something like chocolate in the background but the ethanol takes over. On the palate I got fruit and woody caramel, but the burn is lasting.
Those were my first thoughts upon opening this rum. I have since come to appreciate it and have to say I enjoy sipping it. I feel that once oxygen gets to it there is a mellowing of the alcohol and the smooth sweetness comes out.

Not as dark as other dark aged rums but it is a beautiful easy sipper ...nice notes of banana semi sweet pineapple vanilla & other tropical fruits...worth every cent. I would highly recommend anyone to buy this bottle

Feiner Rum , aber etwas zu süß für meinen Geschmack.

Trotzdem , gute Qualität.

Fine rum, but a little too sweet for my taste.

Nevertheless, good quality.

Very easy to sip. A well balanced, top rum with vanilla notes.

Know there’s a lot of haters out there but I’m not one of them. Can be a little harsh at first but smooths out just fine with a pleasant aftertaste. Sipped it neat. Maybe once I’m further into my run journey I’ll discover better ones but that doesn’t detract from the enjoyment

Aroma: the aroma itself is quite sweet, I noticed vanilla, caramel and lot of coconut (coconut is really dominant here).

Taste: pretty similar to aroma, I noticed vanilla, I think little bit of cocoa and again that coconut.

Overall: For me, this Plantation, or as I like to call them "Plantážník", was the first step into the world of rum. I think it is very good rum to start your personal RUM journey. I think this rum is must have, must try rum for, well anybody who want to step into this world. At a price around 45-50€, in my country, is really good deal (good as a gift too).
