Multiple | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

This has a wonderful nose and is worth just sticking your nose in and leaving it there for a while. Brown sugar and wood stick out to me. The flavors are smooth and interesting. Lots of depth and it changes throughout the tasting. I prefer it neat, as it lost some of its best characteristics on ice (too much wood cane out). It’s an amazing sipping option and doesn’t need to rest and open up for very long, unlike some others that are high on my list.
Plantation XO 20th Annversary is getting good reviews everywhere you look. It’s been on my list for quite some time and it’s time has just come. And it did NOT disappoint. Sweeter rum with full body and very nice scent. Distinguished. Best after few weeks after you open the bottle when it gets mixed with a bit of fresh air. I will definitely get it from time to time.
Too sweet. Smell is partially "masked", probably due to sweetness. I don't think it's bad, but something about it feels a bit off. I read a long presentation text specifically on it and was expecting something great. The only thing great though, is its price. I tried this at a bar. Barman and serving girl started me on its supposedly fabulous backstory, but ended up getting wind from me on even more details, plus Plantation brand-name chaging and other stuff, instead. Good for them, i guess! Marketing tricks work on those who don't frequent rumratings, fatrumpirate's and captain jimbo's. Wouldn't try that again, nor go out of my way to obtain an entire bottle, change or no change, collector's pride and whatnot.
The nose is very sweet, with a lot of vanilla and coconut. Excellent rum. One of my favorites, one of that bottle, tha I must have in my cabinet. highly recommended.
Sweet and smooth. Great value I think for the price. Maybe lacks the complexity of the more expensive rums, but drinks easily.
Vynikající chuť za vcelku slušnou cenu. Doporučuji.
This really is worth the extra money. I've got it next to my bottle of 5 Year. Wonderfully balanced. The hogo is still there. Ripe Banana. Caramel. Maybe slightly coconut?
Great! Incredibly smooth, and wonderful taste. Sip, chug, whatever you want.....but savor it as its awesome
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

This rum grew on me as I continued to try it. Came off a bit harsh to me at first. The sweetness shines through though providing a solid rum to supplement the liquor cabinet. Better with an ice cube.
