Don Q 151 Overproof

For a rum with this alcohol percentage, you can still drink it pure unlike other rums. The taste is super sharp. You taste a little bit of vanilla and smoke. But it is better to mix this rum. Then it still tastes pretty good.

I like the light golden color and I use this as an added boost to my rum based drinks that are just not doing what they should. This does the trick and is reasonably priced for an over proof but should be used with care as the 75.5% abv is just as it says! 🙃😳

This is my first 151 rum. The burn that the ABV gives overpowers the flavor in this kind of drink so it's not really meant for sipping. Really look forward to using it in cocktails. Flavor 3/10 (too much burn), aroma 7/10, look 9/10.

Bought it for blending and finishing in a cask. Don't feel that sweet with a strong burn all over the tasting. It gets oaky and really dry when it ends.

I would not drink it directly but someone may like it. Definitely one of the better overproofs.

A lot of flavor in this rum. I used to do shots with 151, now I use it as a mixer rum in pina’ coladas egg nog and other daiquiris. I love the flame arrestor in the pour neck.

Not bad. but wouldn't buy it again! There's so many others at the same price point that taste better!

75% ABV is indeed too much to drink neat, this is primarily a mixer. After mixing, the nose is tobacco, vanilla, demerara sugar, nuts, white oak, the taste again repeats tobacco, vanilla, demerara sugar, nuts and pronounced white oak, the aftertaste adds some bitter tones, which nicely balance the added sugar. Overall the nose and taste remind me of Cubay Anejo Suave, with and additional twist of walnuts and hazelnuts. Goes very well with both tea or coke, small amount of this rum imparts the mix a distinctive and pleasant flavor. One hipflask of this delight is a pocket bomb, enough to make eight cups of tea a heavenly drink on a cold autumn afternoon. REEDIT 12/2021 - after trying it neat in microscopic sips - I give it 9, it is a true darling.

Had drank an entire bottle alone it tastes out standing.
