Tastes and smells mostly floral with a bit of jamaican funk to it. Very dry tasting rum for a plantation. I maybe wouldn't think of this rum as a sipper.

I prefer appleton signature over this. It's cheaper and funkier. Going to try this in a mai tai later. (I have heard that's where this rum shines)

EDIT: Makes an amazing Mai Tai! 10/10 in that category. No other rums needed.

Easily the worst tasting bottle of rum, bottle of liquor of any kind, or bottle of cough medicine I’ve bought in my entire life. I bought it because of a glowing description on the ratings card at the store which ended in “97 Points!”. Apparently, they missed putting a decimal point between the “9” and the “7”. I wouldn’t buy this as a gift for my worst enemy.

Tasted a lot of Plantation rums and the Xaymaca Special Dry is my absolute favourite. I'm not a fan of the cloying sweetness of the Original Dark (15g/L dosage), Black Cask (20g/L) and XO (20g/L). Therefore, having the Xaymaca Dry (0g/L) was an absolute delight. It's raw, sharp and wonderfully dry but in a really pleasant way.

If you enjoy dry spirits (Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao has a quite similar thing going on), I highly recommend this rum. If you have a sweet tooth and Pantation XO, Botucal Reserva, Don Papa or Zacapa is amongst your favourites, the Xaymaca Dry is no sipper for you. If you want to use it as a mixer, note that the Xaymaca Dry adds some nice banana funk to any drink but is not as strong and overpowering as a Smith & Cross.

This is a tasty rum. It has the funkiness you expect from a Jamaican representation but is not overwhelming. Probably not the best Jamaican I have tried but the price is unbeatable.

Not overbearing nice notes, seems to linger. My just need more getting used to the dry aspect of it.

Nicely sweet, toffee aroma. Apricot and other fruits in taste. Sweet and quite unique! Or Jamaican.

I like this rum. I appreciate it. I love a lot about it, including its hogo forward flavor. But I don’t find myself being drawn to it more than my other sippers. Glad I got the bottle but won’t get another.

I didn't expect much of it but the melody of spices and hogo won me over. It's a good rum to get into for those seeking more adventurous flavors.

I've been very happy with most all the Plantation rums I've tried but this one was mildly disappointing. It's dry which I dont mind, but there is just not a lot going on here and its pretty meh as a sipper. It's fine in some cocktails but there is really not much that stands out here. It's pretty unremarkable and middle of the road. Not bad, not great, just, meh. Doubt I would ever buy it again, but happy I tried it.
