Foursquare always deliver good quality rum.
With ABV 62 I think this is a bit too sharp on alcohol to the nose an taste. Don’t really feel it coming up from the glass, but let it breath for a while and it will turn out more pleasant. I feel coconut and heavy licorice notes. In overall a really interesting rum for the experienced drinker!
Very enjoyable sipping rum. Tasting at Foursquare distillery.
The extra alcohol sneaks' up on you. But the flavor keeps you coming back for another sip.
Nose: Overripe peach, slight notes of sweet tobacco, anise, honey, toffee, molasses, some red apples even, plums, ginger
Taste: Heavy sherry influence for that age, molasses, cherries, plums, ginger, toffee, sweet tobacco, quite a lot of it, anise, velvety leather, camphor, saffron, chamonile
Finish: Dried cherries, tobacco, anise, camphor, ginger, eucalyptus, sweet, round, a bit dry, medium to long
Comment: Absolute beauty, velvety yet strong, perfect sherry influence, incredible sweet tobacco notes.
Winding down my Barbados rum adventure with a local Foursquare selected by Velier. Fabulous dark brown 62% experience. Need to let this puppy breath a little and open up. First sip splendid second hit a bit hard as most 60% + rum tend to dove for me neat. More in a minute third sip the sherry aging notes appear but still a bit overpowering from the strength and only 9 year aging. All in all it is an exceptional rum for anyone with a refined rum pallet but way to strong for beginners.
I think one small cube ice to tame it a bit might be best for most. This is how I drink most of my rums in Florida and the Caribbean.
on sent qu'il est un peu plus fort que les autres rhums mais si vous savez pas au départ ,vous pensez pas qu'il est a 62°.
Familiar notes of vanilla are overtaken by a more sherry influenced wood.
"Finish is long and very satisfying. Warming oak notes and sweet spice runs nicely alongside a slightly tannic almost red wine like hit of stoned fruits."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This rum presents itself fairly dark in the glass, reminding me of deep amber, almost with a reddish hue. The nose is striking and quite clearly characterised by the sherry finish. Notes of red fruits, nuts, tobacco, oak and caramel is nicely defined. It's also a bit chalky with some zesty pineapple to keep it lively. It's really wonderfull, and can keep me intrigued for a long time.
The taste is big bodied and fills the mouth quickly. It's intense, especially the first sip, but I find it surprisingly sippable considering the 62%. It starts out with naturally sweet and thick, chewy caramel and nuts, slowly followed by the red fruity notes. The taste also shows a clear influence from the sherry finish with ripe rasp- and cranberries.
The finish is big and long with lingering sweet liquorice, spicy nutmeg and oak. It builds a nice heat in the chest and tingles the lips but feels integrated and balanced. This is spectacular and closing on a 10 (9.7).
