Myer’s Original Dark Rum is a blend of up to nine different rums of various ages, all of which are distilled using Jamaica's typical production method: pot-stills. The Original Dark Rum is slightly unique in Jamaica however, because some of the molasses used earlier in the process is added back in after distillation.
Myers rum has been produced since 1879 and named after its founder, Fred Myers.

Try it with club soda! It's as smooth as and sweeter than Bourbon. Try it on the rocks with just a splash of club soda, even better.
Tried this because it was cheap. It's a good mixer.....no good to sip.
Es un ron con sabor muy fuerte, no es mi tipo de ron, pero lo podría tomar mezclado.
This may be very cheap, but it tastes like it. Really only drink it if there's nothing else available, and you have some coke or cocktails to mix it with.
Very thick strong taste good for mixing not sipping
During the last 25 years that I have been drinking Myersś Original Dark, usually two or three bottles a year, I have fund their production to be uneven. Usually it is a good standard rum that works on any given day but now and then I get a bottle that has a slight bitter aftertaste. Don´t know why but it keeps me from buying a new bottle for a while. But then the next one is fine and so on.
I didn't figure out how to enjoy it at first, but the texture was silky smooth. The sweetness isn't as apparent as the Malibu stuff but it was satisfying to drink.
I tried it neat just to get a feel for the flavor. Heavy molasses but interesting and not too bad but i think it will be much better mixed.
The rum is 50% inviting and 50% telling you to watch out!.
"Initially it is all caramel and burnt toffee almost like black treacle. As the aroma develops that rich Jamaican aroma also makes an entrance amongst the dense treacle."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I think this is a solid mid range Rum. Nice Molasses hit with a bit of caramel and just a hint of the qualities of a Havana Club. I think this represents really good value for money. Would not be my first choice but no where near the back. Suspect the fact that it is a "common" Rum and familiarity breeds contempt for some of the really low ratings
