Myer’s Original Dark Rum is a blend of up to nine different rums of various ages, all of which are distilled using Jamaica's typical production method: pot-stills. The Original Dark Rum is slightly unique in Jamaica however, because some of the molasses used earlier in the process is added back in after distillation.
Myers rum has been produced since 1879 and named after its founder, Fred Myers.

Neither funky, nor oaky. Nonetheless it has a satisfying intensity, stemming mostly from molasses. Whenever cocktail recipes call for a "dark Jamaican rum", I use this one.
I cannot believe this has been rated so poorly by so many. This is a good solid dark rum. It is the standard by which all dark mixing rums are measured. It is not contrived marketing hype like Kilo Kai. It was not created to out merchandise competitors like Kraken. This is real rum and has been for almost 150 years. This blows Goslings away. Smooth and deep with plenty of body. Some nice smoke and coffee notes with a bit of funk. Try it again rum ratings comrades. This deserves better. Every bit of an 8 for me.
Strong Jamaica stuff. Plantation guys won’t like this - it’s ruff, funky and boozy, but does A solid job in your favourite mix.
Not a favourite of mine and is usually a last resort if wanting a cheap and cheerful night. More like a treacle than a drink. Beggars cant be choosers
This a regular cabinet option since it's found nearly everywhere. Myers' is very heavy on the molasses taste, even compared to other Jamaican dark rums like Appleton Estates. That may be an asset or an issue, depending on your preference and the kind of drink you're mixing.
Not a sipping rum, but for price good to have. Pleasant aroma, chocolate, molasses, hint of funk. Neat is dry, burns a bit, flavor is interesting, but the burn obscures the details. Makes an interesting rum n come, good in punch. Overall it's decent for the price
The flavor is rather dry with the molasses being detectable but quickly overtaken by a marked oak flavor due to the barrels in which it was kept.
No fantastic rum. OK to drink, nothing special. Better mix
Do not try this neat, it is a mixer and nothing else.
The rum is 50% inviting and 50% telling you to watch out!.
"Initially it is all caramel and burnt toffee almost like black treacle. As the aroma develops that rich Jamaican aroma also makes an entrance amongst the dense treacle."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I really like this rum , it does have a bold taste, but that is what I need for some of the island drinks I love. And I do enjoy the sweetness.
