Surprise en débouchant la bouteille. Et mauvaise surprise. Au lieu d'un grand vieux rhum, on a un sirop à la fraise tagada ( très bon au demeurant). Mais la déception est là, surtout vu le prix. Quand j'achète un rhum épicé, je préfère le savoir avant d'acheter la bouteille. Très belle d'ailleurs. Même si c'est la meilleure boisson à base de rhum que j'ai goûté.

The bottle is a high end old rhum bottle, the prince is the one of a great rhum, BUT, surprise, it is not. A sugared flavoured syrup. Who is not my taste, even if it is a very good one. When I buy a spiced rhum, I would like to know it BEFORE opening the bottle. Specially at this price.
Even if it is the best spiced rhum I tried.

great blent out of extra old barrels with a strong burn. super smooth, and a lot of fruit. especially cassis.
like oil and very long. If you taste different during the evening, this one should be the last one. great

This is a solid rum no doubt. But i feel that in its price range, you can get others that pack a bit more.
Its sweetness works against it to hide some of that wonderful complexity. I find myself always close, but unable to reach all the notes, before my mouth is awash in sweetness.

I purchased this in Amsterdam on the recommendation of the AH Riise sales rep. It's purely awful. I'm sure that, at its base, it's rum in some form, but overloaded with vanilla and licorice flavorings. Not at all worth the 79,00 Euros I paid for it and definitely not worth all the effort I went through to find it and buy it.

The bottle is already empty. Very good rum, especially for occasional rum drinkers. Sometimes may seem to be rather sweet. Nice smell, tasty (some chocolate and a lot of other flavours for sure... :⁠-⁠) ), very mild.

8:On the nose, we discover a very dark Riise. First coffee, then lots of molasses, black, thick and licorice-like, creamy orange, dark chocolate. This thickness is enveloping and even heady, reminiscent of a very sweet coffee or a burnt, buttery caramel. The brand's trademark candy character is present, but for now it's smoldering under the ashes.
It's the aeration that will deliver all the unbridled confectionery we're used to from these rums. Candies join the party: cherry marshmallows, tagada strawberries, tangy banana.
7,8:On the palate, the attack is very soft, then gives way to a whiff of Christmas spices. Another of the brand's signatures, these spices are indeed present. A torrent of vanilla then carries off a host of sweets: milk-strawberry candy, cherry lollipop, creamy orange, vanilla whipped cream.
7,2:In the finish, licorice finds a small place, surrounded above all by a world of powdered sugar.

Bra sötma, inte för mycket. Chokladboll, apelsin i smaken. Vanilj. Lång eftersmak.

Extremely sweet, as A. H. Riise heavily doses their rums. However, through the sweetness, you can really taste what seems to be an amazing rum. While I am not a big fan of rums this sweet, this one is a bright exception. I went through the tasting set of A. H. Riise and Santos Dumont rums (24 different bottles), and I could barely taste the differences because of the high sugar content. However, this particular bottle strongly stood out. Love it as a dessert or poured over some ice cream.
