Tasted on the deck of Hunter's Garden in Barbados on February 15th, 2024.
Nose: Rich caramel and vanilla with a bit of orange peel and coconut
Taste/Palate: The spices really come through ont the palate. Some cocoa and and coconut flavors also.
Finish: Nice finish with apricots and peached coming through
If included the environment of being on the deck in this spectacular location and the price of $35USD, I would rate this much higher.
I admire the fact Foursquare participates in the global Bajan economy producing rums for several other historic Great Houses, like St Nicholas Abby and Hunte’s. This is a smooth easy drinking 43% rum. Very nice not as heavy as the ECS but quite good. 7.5.

A small batch of Foursquare's Exceptional Cask Selection. Unsweetened and single-barrel aged, these are made for a number of GreatHouses in Barbados.
Hunte's Garden is a botanical garden in a huge sink hole with a collapsing Ms Faversham - like Greathouse and an eery background of classical music.
Distinct tall bottle with the Doorley's screw top.
The rum is a blend of pot and column still, which has then been aged 10 years in "small wood". Bottled at 43%.
Colour: golden
Nose: very much in time with the other FS exceptional cask editions; dried as well as fresh fruit, warm and mature and not a hint of esthers
Mouth: very different from the Port and Zinfandel casks. Almost none of the fig and toffee, belying the molasses origin. Dry and much sharper on the palate with restrained notes of raisins and wood it is more like an old brandy.
Sweetness: 2/5
Burn: kicks in hard, lasts a long time
In summary this is a top product with a very separate identity from it's stable mates.
It is for people who enjoy whisky and cognac, less so for those who like the sweetened South American rums.
