Molasses syrup. Alcohol bite up front. Sipper. Splash of water opens it up.
Exceptionally smooth and the hints of the spices really carryover into the flavor
Short and sweet. This rum starts with a sugary sweet aroma. . .and then continues with the liquid version of that. This is one of the most simple tasting rums I've had. There is a sweet vanilla taste that is short lasting, but extremely satisfying.
It's dark, not too sweet and my favorite rum to have neat. There is a special cask version that rounds off the smoothness even more.
Succulent aroma , smooth and tasty. Definitely a sipper, this rum is perfect served neat. Has vanilla / flavor complexity and smoothness. Nice presentation as well. Recommend
Wow! That is one word to describe this fantastic fine rum. Definitely, if you enjoy Zacapa's XO rum, then this is for you and for half the price. Superb from from initial smell to the last sip. Definitely a sipper, this rum is perfect as an after dinner rum or to compliment your dessert.
This rum has complexity and smoothness that is contained in an old style canteen bottle indicative of that which Hemingway had in the service. Of course, Papas Pilar is the name of his boat.
Nicely done for a rum crafted in Florida!
Sharp alcohol bite is followed by a wonderful array of flavors blended beautifully with a nice, thick feel on the mouth. Excellent neat or with ice and easy to sip faster than you might want it gone.
Hits you with hard alcohol taste, then apologizes with a sweet maple/vanilla after taste. Each sip it's like it hits you and the hugs you and says sorry.
I mix all rums I buy with Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi. This one is pretty great, when it's mixed with a Diet Coke, you can't taste the strong alcohol that much. But what it does it give the drink a nice sweet vanilla/maple taste. I personally wasn't head of heals for that type of taste with my soft drink, but it's a nice change up from my go-to mixing rum(sailor Jerry).
Very smooth. Aroma of vanilla and molasses. Taste is sweet, but not overwhelming. Oak flavor is present.
Sweet a little spicy, yet with slightly bitter coffee notes.
"There is a fair amount of orange peel or marmalade like bitterness, especially on the finish and the aftertaste. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Very earthy on the nose and palate. I believe these are finished in sherry casks - it gives a unique finish that is different than moat other rums out there. Great color, no burn and a hint of oak makes this a really good rsipping rum.
