Trinidad and Tobago | Spiced | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

Lovely rich smell and spices on the pallet. Great with ginger ale
I like that this has more personality than the inoffensive Captain. If I want to mix a bold eggnog for guests, I'll reach for the Kraken - it's amped up turned-to-11 tastes of heavy molasses and over proof spirits is always a great holiday conversation starter. (If you want them to notice how damn good the eggnog is though, grab the bottle of El Dorado Spiced instead)
This is alright. Not something to sip, but it mixes pretty well.
I usually mix this rum into cocktails or eggnog during the holidays. Decided to give it a thorough evaluation as a sipping rum. I was surprised and impressed. very flavorful without any harsh burn.
For someone who likes sweet Port. Some nice flavors but just too sweet
Très proche du Don Papa 10ans en légèrement moins caramélisé,
Sirupeux et foncé, on retrouve le coté " Médicinal"
Tried this one night in a hotel after being drawn to the bottle shape. Not a real sipping drink, we mixed it with cranberry and orange juice which was surprisingly good. Reasonably priced
This is creamy and smooth, I starting drinking it as a mixer but decided soonly after it was worth it straight.
Outstanding in a dark and stormy. I decided to try it straight. Not bad. Had a bit of a cola taste to me. I probably won't drink it straight again, but that's just because it's so good mixed with ginger beer.
A caramel/treacley heavy molasses like smell. .
"There is nothing subtle about the spicing and the caramel flavour makes the rum, to my taste overly sweet."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Tasted like someone poured Captain Morgan and Jaggermeister together. Burned, and I hate black licorice.
