I was hoping for more from the mystery of Cuban rum. Good but I was expecting smoother, for the price.
I bought my bottle in Cuba and I love the marketing around it's concept. The rum for me is average in everything and too high in bite. Would not buy it again.
A dissapointment for that price, i think it's the worst rum i've tasted in that price cattegory
It has a good aroma and after taste. Good quality rum for the nice evening cigar. Gives the cigar a splendid aroma. Worth all the money.
Of the Havana family my favorite. It really tastes as a mature rum, a product of a convenient mix done by maestros.
Wow this is a good Cuban rum. I’ve had the 7yr quit a lot and enjoy it but this was way better and worth the little extra money. On the nose it’s a bit dry and smells of wood and citrus. I really enjoyed sipping this and got the same tastes as aromas with a little leather and tabacco( typical Cuban rum). I enjoy pairing this rum and several others with good cigars as the flavors to me get more intense with rum cigar combo. A great addition to the collection.
I've always "liked" Rum. For 30 years that meant indifferent rums drowned in cola. But before a trip to Cuba 2 years ago I had a look around the blogs to see what premium Rums were available to bring home. As it happened we were on a bit of a premium package at the resort which gave us access to top shelf liquors, including the Maestros. So why not? I knew better than to pain my bartender by asking for it any way but neat, and grew to enjoy a generous after dinner pour along with a side of sweet espresso. At the duty free I discovered I could buy 2 bottles Havana Club 3 plus 1 Mulata 7 for the cost of 1 Maestros. So I went with the 3. In the next year I discovered my preference in Rums for sipping skews to the sweet side. But when I saw a bottle of this at PVR Duty free for $35 US I couldn't resist. Now as I sip on my El Dorado 15 or Reserva Exclusiva, I glance over at my drier first love in that gorgeous bottle and wonder if I shouldn't give that Cuban beauty another go.
Truly special friend that know and enjoy rum. Serve neat or with a cube, sip and get lost in the flavour of this magnificent rum.
It's proper Cuban rum in top condition. Smooth, rich, perfectly balanced. Number one for Old fashioned.
It smells of apricot and peaches.
"Well blended and well-balanced spirit that it’s smoothness shines through. There is very little roughness or aggressive spirit tones when sipped."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I am NOT a Big fan of Havanna Club, but with this one they have really found the right way to make it.
