Another top-shelf rum. This rum is magnificent and has a nice chocolate molasses and a little tobacco on the palate. The finish is what you will expect on a rum of this caliber. A little pricey, but is a rare find.
I drink this every year in Barbados and it’s superb on on the rocks
You know this rum is not as “finished” as many other sipping rums when you smell the bite in the initial pour. As it settles it becomes more complex with a hint of spice and fruit with an undertone of wood. Not sure of the casks this is aged in but as a sipper the Woody taste comes out with a hint of smoke. No sweetness but their is a touch of spice. I sampled neat and this might be better with ice. I also think that a Scotch drinker might find this a very interesting rum.
I would have again but not sure it carries for the price so will not be stocking.
More delicate version of the XO (I had direct comparison). Without any alcohol odour at all. More of date in honey in the scent. Less of wood.
In the taste its again pine wood, resin, moss, dark forrest fruits, honey. All delicately embraced by the gentlest rum I have ever tasted. Compared to XO the wood is little more in the background and other flavours are more pronounced (more leathery and creamy?). Especially the dark forrest fruits and honey taste are amazing.
Top stuff. Everyone should try this one at least once in their lifes. Prefer XO on most occasions though. Its a little bit rougher, but all the taste notes are there, though differently balanced (see above).
A great rum that Master Blender Allen Smith makes one annual batch of 1703 Master Select. 1703 Master Select is a blend ranging from 10 to 30 years. Super legit without any addons. No ice necessary, but hey, live your life!
This is not for lovers of ”spanish rums”. It is well balanced and brings some interesting tones. However more towards the cognac side. Not my type but some people will love this.
A nice spicy entry which is quite woody.
"The nose is full of chewy toffee, banana, caramel, brown sugar and that signature coconut."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Just the pleasure to drink. Smoky, fruity palate. Hint of natural sweetness. Spirit bites gently at the first sip, then disappears. Long long aftertaste.
Definitely the drink for the special occasions (might be not for quarantine :) ).
His younger brother X.O. scored 9 for me, so Master Select is 10 because it's more solid, more delicious.
Cheers! Stay healthy!
