Diplomatico Mantuano

Not as good as the reserva exclusiva, but for its price its a steal.

This is simply a great rum and has a smooth richness to it, but there are many alternatives that already nail this classification that are cheaper. Sure this one certainly has a smooth finish to it which gives that air of refinement to it, which may make the difference for some.

Aroma: Ostřejší lihovost, kořenitost, nádech pomeranče a meruňek, pampeliškový med. Alkohol je ještě trochu nevycválaný. Čokoláda, včelí plástve, krémovost. (82 b)
Chuť: Sladění vůně a chutě je dobré. Opět trochu ruší vyčnívající lihovost. Koření, nasládlost, ovocnost (pomerančová marmeláda). Propolis, skořice, v dozvuku hřejivý. (82 b)

Shrnutí: Ochutnávali jsme s kamarádem na dalším degustačním večeru v českolipském Baru/Kavárně Kocour. Hlavní jádro ochutnávky tvořily čtyři Plantationy, k tomu novinka od Diplomática - Mantuano, pak jsme zkusili El Ron Prohibido Habanero a na úplný závěr pak pouťovou atrakci RedRum. Mantuano je takový základní rum, nic extra zajímavého, navíc působí ještě dost nevyzrále.

I needed to replace my (frequently consumed) Reserva Exclusiva and the store only had the Mantuano so I gave it a try. Months later, it's still pretty much a full bottle. I won't say it's bad, but it reminds me of a Kinder Bueno Mini, Nutella, or at least something very similar to hazelnut coffee creamer mixed with graham crackers.

It is not very complex, but overall a smooth sipp with nice sweet caramel notes. The aroma is average. I would choose this over Bacardi 8 without a 2nd thought any day of the week.

Its a bit 'hit you up front with alcohol' but after that it almost mellows with honey and finishes with wood and leather. Glad I tried it but the the Caribu Solera I drank the night before was obviously a touch better, yet more expensive. Good if money tight.

Tried it Yesterday at a birthday party and - damn... Loved it!
It was great for mixing and sipping with Ice, all i could ask of a Rum!
