The first collaboration between Foursquare and Velier. Ten years aging ( seven ex-cognac and three ex-bourbon barrels), 62% vol.
Nose: massive alcholic, later tobacco, wax, cherries bit of vanilla... better with some tears of water.
Taste: unsweetened cacao, pepper, liquorice...at end spices and fruit notes.
One of the best rums i've ever tasted!
I don't give out 10's easily or often, but this rum is a unicorn that lives up to all its hype! I just finished the 1st bottle I opened and slow drank over almost a year. It was so good that it was only shared with my most loved friends and family. The unfortunate part is that the prices are outrageous for a bottle these days.....but that said, it truly is an experience that should be had by any real rum lover. 2,400 on release five years ago translates to VERY HARD TO FIND, but still try....you won't be disappointed!
Not as good as the Destino but great stuff nonetheless.
Nose: Vanilla, Cherry, Caramel, Banana, Raisins, Strawberries, Raspberries, Flowers, Coconut, Pencil Shavings, Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, Cashews, Walnuts, Almonds, Hazlenuts, Plums
Palate: Raspberry, Mango, Papaya, Coconut, Cherries, Dark Chocolate, Toffee, Flowers, Maple Syrup, Plums, Raisins, Minerals, Grass, Cane Sugar
Finish: Raspberries, Almonds, Coconut, Walnuts, White Chocolate, Caramel, Bananas, Pineapples, Blackberries, Cashews, Rancio
Easily one of the best rums I’ve tried. Full bodied and fully flavoured
The best foursquare of the Velier line... the problem is to get one!
What an incredible Foursquare.
On the nose there is ripe strawberry, cherry, orange, cognac, some sourness, a light funk, honey and cinnamon. The palate is a full bodied sweetness, candy, rich, ginger, dark chocolate, toffee and cola. The finish is medium in length with pepper and candied almonds.
A little water beings out more floral and sweet notes, making it even more delectable. Very solid FS!
I like this collection. This makes good returns in the long run.
Puissance, finesse, fruits, notes épicées.
Ne la collectionnez pas, buvez la !
The richness of the nose brings forward a lot of fruity flavour.
"Syrupy caramel note in the rum and also integrated into the balanced nose are some wafts of vanilla essence and a nice reassuring spicy oak. The finish is a medium length and is full of spicy bourbon oaked notes."

We were some friends teaming up at Cane Rum Society in Stockholm to celebrate Foursquare Appreciation Day.
After our planned tasting of four different Foursquare ECS’s led by our friend the Swedish importer, Lars Renbjer, we went on with two Foursquare Velier releases.
Secondly out was the 2006 the 1st rum in the collaboration between Luca Gargano of Velier and Richard Seale of Foursquare.
It’s a blend of molasses based rum from Copper double retort pot still and Coffey column still distilled in 2006.
It’s tropical aged for ten years of which three years were in ex-Bourbon barrels and the following seven in ex-Cognac barrels.
The nose is fruity, nutty and a little oaky with aromas of brown sugar, varnish, dark chocolate, figs, raisins, pineapple and banana.
At the palate it’s soft, complex, fruity, buttery and nutty with a little sweetness and tastes of caramel, vanilla, pepper, chocolate and oak.
The long finish is dry, spicy and oaky
joined by dark chocolate.
Overall a fantastic first release of a Foursquare by Velier, no wonder this collaboration has continued.
