Foursquare Spiced

Possibly swayed more by the bottle than the heritage and history. But a really enjoyable rum, not as complex as I was expecting, but nice flavours done well. Not silly sweet either.

On the nose, there is mix of German Spekulatius cookies scent with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cardamom, first few shots were actually too dry for my palate (no sugar added here) to put it together with all these spices. As you get through the bottle, the spices get a bit muted and the rum body starts to be more recognizable and althought it is quite young (I would guess around 3y), it adds some fruity traits to the taste, it plays well with the spices and it is really fun to sip it. The aftertaste is long and (of course) spicy, with some alcohol burn. Makes also an interesting rum and coke with a touch of Christmas. I am not a big fan of spiced rums, but this one has style.

This has a better blend of spices than most. Quite a bit of mild cinnamon with nutmeg and vanilla. A lovely spiced rum even though I generally do not like spiced rums.

Strong cinnamon taste. Personally love it good straight but also mixes very well with coke or other soda

Very heavily sweet, cinnamon, wintery spices. Not my flavor profile... I'm finding it hard to figure out how to use this one.

As suggested before, this rum rum is not very complex, it's smooth yet the only extra flavor you get is the cinnamon. What I like about spiced rums is the variety of more intense flavors but this is just a standard rum with just one level of extra cinnamon flavor which is not enough for me to buy it again or recommend it.
Perhaps if you're not that much into spiced rums, this might be good for you but I'm rating this based on my expectations of stronger taste experience which I'm not getting here.

I wouldn't know it's rum. One of the worst bottles I've drunk. Artificial.

It's really too harsh. I am actually familiar with Seale's/Foursquare/Doorly's products, which means i am aware concerning the pure VS sugarbomb issue and that i also know of and appreciate their business (transparency, no sugar added, superior products overall). I wanted to like this rum. But it is too young, less than 80 proof and almost undrinkable, unless you mix it. Tried it with cola and was okayish, i guess. Unlike other spiced rums, this one didn't have a wide variety and abundant quantity of spices in it, but others think of that as a positive. The burn was terrible, too. From all the rums that i've tried to this day, it has to be one of the very few that i was unable to finish my serving, in one session. But i ultimately put it to good use; fetched a special jar (for homemade liquor crafting), piled up inside it well ripened pineapple and mango pieces freshly cut on spot, filled it with this rum, closed it airtightly and stored it away, for 6 weeks. What came out of it and after being properly filtered, was like honey in your mouth; burn vanished completely, it begot a velvety feel, all harshness gone, but it also felt like its alcohol "weakened". Still though, after my tampering with it, drinking that stuff felt like bliss!

un rom foarte foarte usor de baut, curge lin pe gat, aproape ca nu se simte deloc taria in gust , in miros scortisoara , in gust scortisoara si usor dulceag inbinat cu caramel , in post gust usor dulceag scortisoara si un iz de vanilie.

daca nu iti place scortisoara fereste te de el ))
