As others have pointed out, there's a couple of other spiced rums that match this as a sipping rum, but in my opinion nothing that matches it as a mixer.
The vanilla is very, making it at but not sugary. The rum base is excellent, and the flavor is lovely but not so overwhelming it launches itself at you. And considering how good it is, it's surprisingly affordable. So you can burn through a whole bottle or two at a party (and you will, once people try it) without feeling hurt.
Fantastic with coke, ginger beer, or a good root beer (try A&W) .
My favourite spiced rum by far ! Blows Sailor Jerry out of the water.. Very cheap here in N.Z (makes a pleasant change ) . A bit of a struggle to drink neat after the first couple of sips , but fantastic with a decent ginger beer . Bundaberg is my preferred choice , they make a great ginger beer but crap rum haha
Another quality product from Richard Seales, unfortunately only available if you happen to live in a state where Total Wine sells liquor.
Certainly in my top 3 spiced rums alongside Chairmans and Element 8 but id say it's the sweetest and has the most vanilla. Try making a spiced Mojito with just a splash of pressed apple juice for a summer cooler.
Yes. Seven for a spiced rum! This is smooth, intriguing and complex. Cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, maybe? Only Richard Seale knows I suppose. Forget everything you know about spiced rum if youβve been shopping at BWS and Liquorland this is nothing like the dreaded captains cough syrup. I canβt wait to mix this with everything!
This is more of a novelty than it is a necessity. It's okay in tiny amounts, more to have a taste of something than anything else. I would even say 15ml is fine. Anything more is just a waste. You're not getting any benefit beyond that. What it is good for is a cinnamon flavor in a Hot Toddy! I'm not sure I'd buy it again, but I don't dislike it in any way.
Pale colour, cinammon, vanilla, nutmeg, however rather harsh on the palate (an ice cube helps). A great mixing rum, yes, however it's far from a great sipping rum. St the price point Chairman's Reserve or Rumbullion are much better spiced alternatives in my opinion.
On the nose:
Low ethanol smell, it has a kaloa coffee like smell, one dimensional but not in a bad way.
On the tongue:
Muted kaloa taste is still there, but mixed with generic spice somewhere in the back, perhaps some vanilla, the after taste is quickly finished.
Personal opinion:
This is a great neat rum for easy drinking, though with the simple taste you will be likely to pour larger portions.
Spices in the rum are quite subtle.
"Quite a nice rum, though not really a spiced rum."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
