Plantation Overproof O.F.T.D.

This is my first Plantation Rum and my first Overproof.
Strong for sure but still amazingly smooth. Worth a try if you are looking to grab the beast by the tail and hang on.

Not a lot to say about this one. Stands out in cocktails? Whatever, it made last New Year's Eve great.

Not bad but I wasn't blown away by any means. Curious to compare against a few other similar, popular overproof rums.

Vůně: Je třeba nechat jej vydýchat. Až zmizí ta silná lihovost, objeví se příjemný mix Jamajky
(přezrálý ananas a banány) a Barbadosu(dřevitost, koření) plus karamel, vanilka
Chuť: Sušší nakyslá, spalující, poté nasládlá, ovocná, dřevitá, pepř, vanilka, karamel, čokoláda.
Není v tom skrytá nějaká extrémní složitost, ale nuda to není, je to příjemné
Dochuť: Sud, koření, čokoláda, vanilka
ABV hřeje, štípe, ale dá se to 😁
Za ta % nějaký půlbodík navíc, je to pořádný RUM, ne vodička!

OFTD acronym allegedly stands for Old Fashion Traditional Dark, but when a band of experts were locked away to produce an exceptional rum one of them shouted "Oh F*** that's delicious"... hence the actual meaning.
Indeed you'll be hard pushed to find anything nicer.

The name of the rum really says it all. Delicious and vicious. Have had better overproof rums, but nowhere close to this price.

I like this for Tiki Drinks. It does not overpower the drink like Lemon Hart. It is a nice blend that works as added richness and bite and as a floater. I usually use a 1/4 to 1/2 oz of it in a drink with other rums.

Complex rum with a lot of flavor which shines through the alcohol burn.

Personally can't hack it straight, but easily drinkable with a dash of ginger beer, I'm sure most people who like a good rum over ice could. You can tell it's strong but it's less fiery than you may imagine, I'm quite partial to Jamaican rum so this isn't what I'm used to but for the strength there's nothing more drinkable. The flavour is incredible clear with obvious Jamaican and Barbados notes (I've not had enough Guyana rum to know).

Definitely not a sipper, but bought this for making many tiki drinks. Overripe bananas on the nose and a fairly long bitter finish. Not sweet, but loads of flavor.
